Sometimes and sit down and wonder why a country like Nigeria with all the natural resources and talent people that we have, it is still difficult for some people. Many young people are trying their best to survive, some have jobs but their salary can not even cover their expenses while some people have spent so many years looking for work but still in vain. Even starting a small business can be frustrating when we consider rent, transportation, electricity and other daily expenses.
What makes it more painful and frustrating is that people are not even asking for too much, many people just want to work honestly and earn a good living, be able take care of their family and have some hope for the future.
I know that how problem didn’t start today and if we want to fix them, it won’t just happen suddenly but this particular question keeps coming to my mind;

Where exactly do you think we are getting it all wrong be it as a person or a country as a whole, is it our leadership, is it corruption or our attitude as so called citizens?

Nigeria has so much resources but you should also consider your popular in the country. You are too many, if you are not many, more people will benefit more from the resources but it is not like that. Another thing you should know is that as their are wealthy people, there are also poor people. Everybody can not all be wealthy. Even in countries like United States that many of you think has the best, if you get there today, you will see people that do not have house, you will see people that are also not rich and other kinds of people. You can say there are exception like Switzerland but life can not be the same in all countries. Countries like Switzerland are not common.

If the right system were available, then you can say that by being honest and hardworking, you can push yourself to the top by mere doing the right. ideally, the natural consequence of being hard working and honest is that you get good result but when you are in a faulty system, you get to experience some problem even when you are an honest person.

Take for instance our schooling system. most young guys goes into the higher institution with hopes and plans to be serious and intentional about their lives but unfortunately, when they come to discover that the system is already dead, all the zeal and passion dies instantly. when you finish and discover that what you are coming out with is just paper with zero experience and that you are meant to compete against those that are more connected that you are and that have stayed long on the field, it is just enough to kill every motivation that you have and push you to taking a route you never see yourself in.

In the end, it still takes you back to the government who have failed to create the right system for the honest and hardworking guys thereby encouraging people to only follow short cut that doesn't help any nation.

A lot of Nigerians were living a decent life even with a good paying job but this changed as soon as Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in as Nigeria president, his policies made the price of goods and housing to skyrocket and left so many Nigerians to suffer. The situation the present government kept the country has increased crime rate in the country and production of counterfeit water, medicine, fruits, drinks, and foods, which are the things that are making it difficult for an honest person to get a decent living in Nigeria. So to answer your question, it's our leaders and their corruption that gave rise to all the things I mentioned so they are responsible for an honest person not to get decent living in Nigeria.

The key foundation of this problem is the leadership of the country because they are the ones that make policies which covers every sector in the economy, so if a bad policy is implemented it affects every area especially removal of fuel subsidy as every individual wether poor or rich uses and once the price goes up it affects everything and that's why we are living in abject poverty amidst the mineral resources we have.

Corruption is another factor to look at where Godfatherism has taken over the labour market and industries to the extent that if you don't have an insider or a top politician that recommends you for a Job you can't get a Job even as a first class graduate, it can only take the Grace of God to get a Job without connection. The country is deteriorating and needs to be fixed by voting in a leader with vision and who has empathy for the people.

The Nigerian government should be the major problem in this case, most qualified persons do not have a qualified job because they lack the connection that gets them the job, its not about credibility or qualifications in many occasions. Many people do not get paid as much compared to the work they do, corruption makes the bare minimum look like the most precious provision the government could give.

The minimum wage does not even cover the expenses a normal citizen needs to live a normal life, what do we do from here?

Nigeria has a lot of resources than most of some the African countries that are doing pretty well as of today. But the problem we have till tomorrow is bad governance, the leaders don't care about anybody. We have natural resources, as a matter of fact Nigeria is well blessed but the issues or problem behind our set back is what I have just stated above. I know everybody will not be as rich, but an average Nigerian is supposed to live an average live, not from hand to mouth.

Furthermore, Nigeria is where you see someone taking glory when his follow man or woman is suffering. We really don't put into action the one love we always claim and it's better we start seeing our selves as one Nigerian the better for all of us including our wicked leaders.
