To the market woman who doesn't listen to international news or the okada rider who is busy thinking about how to make a living super el nino to them and every other misinformed nigerian is just another season of heat. This is what we should know about El Nino the consequences and steps and how to survive it. Super El Nino in a mad heat wave, very massive with unpredictable rainfall. Dangers of El nino:1. It can lead to death of humans especially among young children and aged people because they are most times incapable of taking care of themselves. So make sure they are taking enough water and provide ors for little children. 2. It can cause increase in the price of food and scarcity. 3. It can lead to high mortality of poultry birds like chickens, turkeys etc 4. It can increase terminal diseases like kidney problem and the likes because you need to stay hydrated. How to manage El Nino in Nigeria:1. Stay hydrated which means drink a lot of water this period. Do not wait until you are thirsty to before you take water. 2. Stay in a properly ventilated environment. 3. Check up on younger children and elderly ones ensure they are hydrated and in well ventilated environment. https://arbiterz.com/super-el-nino-all-you-need-to-know-about-current-heatwave/?hl=en-US#:~:text=Climate%20Change%2C%20drought%20in%20Africa%2C%20El%20Ni%C3%B1o,Nigeria%20food%20security%2C%20Super%20El%20Ni%C3%B1o%202026.

How I wished there is 24hr electricity supply. At least It would help when people put on their Fans and Ac to cool themselves during this period of extreme heat. The rich wont have issues with this , since they are always under Air conditioner everyday. The people that government should be concerned about are the poor and average citizens who doesn't have light, cant afford any means of cooling themselves. We are already battling with bad government, now a heat pandemic that could cause famine , and death. Food cost will surge drastically. I wonder what initiatives the government are preparing to help we the citizens. Imagine people who are hustling by hawking under the sun, I am not sure they will be able to do that anymore. This is where the usefulness of Solar comes in, ..

Thanks for sharing this important update regarding the new global climatic condition called "Super El Nino", which is meant to be a period of extreme climatic condition on the planet. And according to report, this is said to start this October 2026, and its possible we have started experience this climatic condition, but in a moderate rate, and this "Super El Nino" kind of hand same similarities with the harmatan seaon, when the temperature is also very hot, but just that this climatic condition is said to last longer than the usual harmatan. While this is also the best time to invest in solar generations appliances, be it either car, generator or e.t.c,

It will help frankly but you all know you can not be walking on the roads and streets with fans and air conditioner in hand neither can the government install airconditioners on the streets to help cool the outside environment. You'll need to protect yourself by not staying in an overcrowded places for long Always drink more water as much as possible. Wear air-penetrating clothes not thick woolly. Do not windup park car with kids inside under the sun. Avoid stay under the sunlight for too long. Do your exercise routine very early in the morning when the sun is not out yet, you can reduce your activity time till the heat wave period is over. If you no feat afford solar panel for constant electricity, go buy rechargeable fan keep for house weh you go dey use for night or day when heat done high.

I think you are mistaking harmattan period for dry season because during harmattan season the weather is cold, windy, dusty and dry very dry. But nowadays i don't know how the climate changed especially for those of us in the southern part of Nigerian, harmattan that i grew up seeing as cold and dry season became very hot. Well in Northern parts of Nigeria like Kaduna and Jos by November to Early February there is harmattan which comes with cold and dryness

Even if there is constant power supply, what about others that are doing business that does not allow them to get access to power? like those doing transportation business or the regular business woman that is just halking on the street? what about the aspect of flooding that has not yet come yet some abi most part of our nation is already flooded? We are just a fortunate people that have not experienced key natural disaster if not with the way things are porous in the country, we would have been badly affected because there is no singular system that is capable of protecting us if such occurrence happens.

From my best of knowledge, we refer harmattan to dry season, they are one and the same thing. During the harmattan season, the weather is usually hot, dry and dusty because rain doesn't fall often. There are some places that don't experience chilling atmosphere during the harmattan season most especially cities. Some places in Jos, Kaduna and taraba usually experiences very cold weather whether in harmattan or rainy season. The atmosphere there is usually cold and becomes very cold during the harmattan season. People who lives in those remote areas don't have any thing to worry about the El heat waves since their weather there is cold most of the time.

People doing transportation business or hawkers can find a place to cool themselves after a long haul of working under the sun. The major prevention of this El nino is to always find a way to cool yourself (by drinking enough water and finding a cool place to rest ) and having constant electrical supply will be a game changer. I don't understand what you meant by flooding. We are already at the dry season, so there shouldn't be any fear of flood for now , except an unexpected heavy storm happens. This is why Nigeria is a lucky country, no earth quake, no hurricane and others. Our only disaster is our bad government. I agree with you if any natural disaster happens now, it will cost us alot since we don't have right system in place to counter them.

I think this is the first time I'm hearing about this El Nino especially having effects on Nigerians, actually if is as dangerous as Op stated then it would definitely affect a lot of people because we are currently on the season were the temperature is usually very hot, we haven't even fully enters the season but everywhere is hot both outside and in our houses couple with electricity you mentioned because Nigeria doesn't have good electricity. Like say government they try na this time way them for see the need to make sure say everybody go see light so that e go avart the problem from affecting a lot of persons.

The best advice is to stay hydrated first, drink water more often because the body needs it. As a business owner who’s not always at home should make water their first alternative, 24hr electricity supply sometimes might not be effective compared to staying hydrated for example many location currently don’t have access to electricity supply but they’re okay with just water meaning anyone who’s not privileged to steady power supply will not die as a result of El Nino. This phase will definitely come and go, people should avoid panicking and follow the normal safety precautions, anyone who’s having a health issue should go for regular checkup during this period.

I noticed something in your title. Pardon me, you called it a pandemic, thought El Nino is a natural climate occurrence. Calling it pandemic can cause unnecessarily confusion. It's not a disease that you call pandemic.
With that pointed out, everything you said is on point.
But honestly, a higher percentage of Nigerians won't even care. Many more won't even know about this.

It's just so annoying that the government is so busy with their campaigns and nothing more if this situation affected them directly the solution would have been there this day's electricity supply is very poor and I'm sure these people already knows the current news and people need to use their fans for those who don't have AC so they can manage that one at least but the power failure rate is so high and fans are not even doing the work anymore instead of giving you that breeze you need you still feel the heat more. We just have to help ourselves by telling loves ones to drink lots of water, get ventilation and also eat fruits like cucumber and watermelon since those are more of water based. The effect of this heat pandemic is not something that one should keep quite about, the system of government we've doesn't care very selfish set of people so we should tell the market women, church, workplace or even those hawking in the streets to stay hydrated and enlighten them on the heat pandemic as most of them might not even know about the recent news to save lives.

This El Niño situation should be the first I've heard about since my existence, there have being multiple cases of heat wave but this sounds different. As much as there are ways people could cope with the incoming situation, there would still be cases of death and suffocation because not everyone have that liberty to constant water supply and a conducive living condition.
This is the time the government start their work to enforce laws that support the provision of safety guides and materials to help with the situation. It's a natural occurrence that would affect the entire country, the government sure has a lot of work to be done.

You are very correct, many don’t know about this and are going out their normal activities of the day. This is my first time hearing about this also but i also heard that this is not the first time it is happening, but it takes a very long time for the occurrence of it. We should stick to the ethics on how we can control the after effect of it and also try and tell people who may have limited resources to access such news. We know the situation of the country already, we should be united and share important informations like this to help our fellow countrymen not fall victims of this El Nino.
