--- Personally, I use the 4h timeframe. My approach is pretty slow-paced, with around 2–4 trades per month.
I'm interested in hearing about your experience:
- Do you trade only BTC, or do you trade altcoins too? - Which timeframe do you use? - How many trades do you usually make per month? - What do you like or dislike about focusing on Bitcoin instead of trading multiple coins?
2-4 trades per month? I wonder what's your risk-to-reward ratio with that one. With this number of trades, I just assume that you have a lot of capital, but a low monthly reward. Kind of around 5% per month which TBH is perfectly fine ONLY if you have 6-digit capital on your trading account. For somebody who has maybe around $100 worth of capital, earning $5 per month isn't worth it. Anyway to answer your questions: - Nope I don't trade only Bitcoin. I also trade altcoins as well, and I'm more often trade altcoins than Bitcoin. As long as I see a setup, I enter. - 3-4 timeframes. I usually use the 15M, 5M and 1M. 15M for the Bias and usually 5M for the entry. I also use the 1M as well if I see an entry. There are also times where I'm using the 1H time frame as well to see the overall bias of the market for the day/week. - Number of trades per month? I will just say that I usually make around 1-3 trades per day. - As somebody who's more of a scalper, you will not see setups that often if you will only focus on one coin. If you're more of a position trader, you will see setups because you're willing to wait for a long amount of time for that to happen. If you're a scalper, your not, and because of that you will go look for altcoins that have a setup based on your rules.

The lesser you trade pairs. The better since you get more time to learn how to trade and understand the nature of Bitcoin rather than looking for the next opportunity. But remember. Risk isn't just determined by how few trades you make, position size. Leverage and proper stop-loss discipline are just as important. Even with a 4H setup. It's possible to lose money when the market turns against you. I feel like it's better to miss a trade than to trade when it's not obvious.

Hey everyone!
I'm curious - how many of you trade BTCUSDT exclusively, without touching altcoins? Or am I a dinosaur in the crypto market? 😄

You going 2 to 4 trades per month means you are using the weekly candle or the 2 weeks candle, they are most accurate than those chasing daily candles, I like this, the best trade of my life happened on the. 2 weeks candle. This was when Bitcoin turned around at 58k, my trading tool gave the signal and it was accurate, did some long and oh boy I made very good amount of profit. I like trading Bitcoin more, altcoins ? I only bought on spot and take profit after, I made some profits in Arweave and FET, it was a killing that I spotted the bottom at the time.

Sometimes I trade altcoins besides Bitcoin. I don't have specific timeframe because I will check the timeframe and determine when I can trade.
I don't trade too many per month because that depending on the market fluctuation. If the moves good, maybe I can trade more than before. But there is sometime I don't trade because I can't get some signs to the market.
So not be a problem if you just trade Bitcoin only. That will reducing your confuses analyzing the market.

There will be no confusion about it, just use bitcoin market for the analysis and also use the altcoins to know if it is moving in the bitcoin direction. Use good coin like ethereum, doge, solana and not those altcoins that are shit coins that their price are difficult to predict. But generally I do not like trading because I am kind of greedy while trading, but trading some altcoins can be good.

What I do is 4hr and 1hr and 1day, this is the only strategy I've been using so far and if I have a wrong position that I think is confirmed to be wrong, I cancel it and put it in what I think is right. Then I only always do it in Btc/usdt due to if I also trade in altcoins, the risk of losing my fund balance is quite high, but if I trade in spot and altcoins, I do it fine but not in futures.

- Do you trade only BTC, or do you trade altcoins too? I trade Solana rather than Bitcoin. Although I actually prefer Bitcoin over altcoins, there is a specific reason why I trade Solana instead: trading Bitcoin requires a significant amount of capital. Since I don’t have much capital, I prefer to trade Solana for now at least until my capital grows larger. Trading altcoins is more complex because you have to keep track of two different prices: the USDT - altcoin pair and the BTC/altcoin pair. It’s not easy to monitor both, whereas with Bitcoin, you only need to track the USDT - BTC pair. - Which timeframe do you use? I only use the 4H timeframe; in my opinion, it’s the most appropriate one. It’s true that with this timeframe, I don’t make many trades per month. - How many trades do you usually make per month? At most, I make 4 trades and that’s in a good month; there are even months where I only make 2. But I prefer it this way. I don’t trade every day because daily price fluctuations aren’t significant enough, and trading daily would force me to stare at a chart on my computer all day long, leaving me no time for anything else.

At the same time I do is make changes to the structure of bitcoin, if I do there are some possibilities for bitcoin to increase more than 1%, I will increase altcoins as the most likely way to get a higher percentage of bitcoin only 1% increase in the day, in a day also I do not have a lot of merchandise, it is still below 10 times, so there are still many waiting for market momentum.
The time frame I use the first time I read the week, then daily and 4 hours, this is my mandatory analysis before publishing, when all is finished it will be better Well, I some of this time only generate 1 coin, including Bitcoin or altcoin, I will not take many positions in the market, I better focus on one trade, because the priority now is spot, where only generate profits with a larger margin to be able to obtain 3% -10%, I have not tried again generate on perpetual, except memes. lol

If you take that few numbers of trades in a month, do you look at the market every day? because there will surely be some rustiness if you only look at the market when you want to place those trades. One other question I also like to ask people like you who take a fixed number of trades in a month, how do you react to the market when suddenly it offers multiple good opportunities, and from your expertise you see that they have a very good chance ending with profit, do you go out of character and take more trades than you fixed amount of trades or stay rigid? Have you been in that situation before?

I use the 1D timeframe as a filter, while the 4H setup on Bitcoin works better on its own than on any other asset I've tested. I've backtested different assets, usually going back to 2018–2020, and BTC has consistently performed better with this approach in my historical tests.

It is not a bad idea to only trade btc-usdt, that is not a bad pair, it is a high volume, high liquidity pair and if you really want to trade only that , it is not that bad. I understand wanting more; others do more, and that is fine too there is no doubt. But when you reach out, like to other pairs, there are very bad pairs out there as well. This is why I think it is good that you stick to just the simplest one, and you are not making a mistake with that, you could be having some good profit with it if you know what you are dealing with.

Yes, I monitor the market, but I don't need to stare at charts all day. I use tools that handle both trade entries and stop-loss placement according to my methodology. I also receive alerts on my phone whenever Bitcoin makes a new 12-hour high or low, so I can keep track of important price movements without constantly watching the screen. How do you react when the market suddenly offers multiple good opportunities? Do you go out of character and take more trades than your fixed amount, or do you stay rigid? Have you been in that situation before?
I stick to my methodology and don't take more trades than it allows. I've tested thousands of strategies over time, and only a small percentage of them have proved profitable. I've already incorporated the necessary filters into my current methodology, so I don't feel the need to improvise when the market presents additional opportunities. I've learned that deviating from a tested system can cost money. Even when an opportunity looks attractive, I don't take it unless it meets my predefined criteria. For me, consistency and discipline are more important than trying to catch every possible move.

That's true and I agree, the size or number of trades does define risk in trading and it's one of the many. Those traders who just discovered that a lot of pairs are there think, it's fine to trade with several pairs. They're getting it wrong. It's not the more the merrier and more profits but, they'll need to look which pair suits their style of trading. I feel like it's better to miss a trade than to trade when it's not obvious.
Forcing to trade when it's best to not trade at all will put them into the situation of catching falling knives.

I also think the best way a trader can trade bitcoin is by not monitoring the market all the time, but it depends on the type of trader that you are. If you are a scalper, you will be watching the screen very well anytime you are trading. I do not like scalping for this reason. I can prefer day trading for bitcoin, but swing trading and position holding are just better to me and not exhausting like scaling and day trading. If you get it right also, they are less risky.

Personally I use altcoins for short term trading, sometimes this amount is high and sometimes relatively low. I never gamble with Bitcoin. I am investing in Bitcoin for the long term and still accumulating.
I do not follow any time frame in altcoin trading. I follow the strategy of not selling at a loss, not being too greedy and not using more funds than I can afford.
There is no need to calculate how many times I trade in a month because I trade countless times. Sometimes I buy or sometimes I sell. It is a continuous process. Honestly, I find it more reliable to use top coins for trading because even if the market is unstable, they are able to recover their value after a certain period of time.

At one time, I traded with altcoins along with Bitcoin, but due to lack of success in trading and repeated losses, I almost gave up trading, but now, although I enter the trading platform and trade, I do not trade with altcoins except Bitcoin. Even if you use a four-hour time frame, I use a 30-minute or 15-minute time frame. Currently, I have not been involved in any trading for a few months. I have invested in Bitcoin and held it. If necessary, I sell Bitcoin and meet the need. Of course, if you focus on trading only on Bitcoin instead of focusing on multiple coins, that trading is a lot more fun because the price of all coins fluctuates based on Bitcoin.

I don't think you're out of date because you're trading BTC/USDT. Many people are trading like you, so you're not out of date. Even I'm currently trading BTC/USDT.
I always trade BTC and altcoins because I enjoy trading all crypto, but I always do so when the time is right. My reason for trading isn't just BTC because I want to make big profits with small capital. Trading BTC requires a large amount of capital to make big profits. Of course, when you have small capital, trading altcoins can bring big profits, but of course, the risk is also high.
I can't specify the total monthly transaction volume, as it depends on market conditions, but it's usually no less than 8 transactions per month.

This is the way to go; there is nothing wrong with it. If you deal only with bitcoin then you are going to be ok, nothing to worry about that and we should not be worried about it, we should be happy with it. This is something that can be done and won't be a problem. Just because you are being careful and just because bitcoin is decent, we are not going to apologise for sticking to it and not taking bigger risks. So you investing in bitcoin, and thinking it very long term, is a fine and very low-risk good investment, and I think you are doing the right thing.
