I won't classify a gambler as a professional for the reason that he is having regular winning. Regular winning is relative to how much he wins and losses compared to someone else who doesn't win regularly but win quite a substantial amount.

A good gambler is the person who takes money management serious. That is, he considers the risk that he is taking per bet to the ratio of expected win/profit. For example, if you bet 50% of your income. This means such person is simply an addict.

Another important point for me is to have strong emotional control of yourself and that will make you know when to exit or not and reduce the chase for loses.

Now that I am older and wiser (well, older at least) I would consider a professional gambler to be someone who earns an income from gambling, through something like a partnership that allows them to get paid regardless of how well they gamble.  Typically this would be an advertising or streaming deal...

There's a great definition - I'll tweak it for our situation: a professional gambler is someone who makes their main income from gambling. That's all. I think (not 100% sure here) we can also throw in all the streamers, bloggers, and other influencers whose main income comes from gambling, even if they don't actually win it in the games.

A professional gambler is a folk that don’t see gambling as form of entertainment completely . someone who treats gambling as a serious, structured activity, using knowledge, experience, strategy, and risk management to generate income rather than relying purely on luck. I personally still believe that gambling is mainly a game of luck , and no this being a professional doesn’t mean that they are always winning or even winning . Just someone that understands how gambling works to some point , the real professional gambler are those that focus more on risk management cause you can’t be lucky always or always beat the system. I don't use the term, professional gambler. I think people use it to deceive newbies and sell them fake fixed odds or stuff like that, and then take their money and live off of it. And it is easy to trick people this way, because when they hear this term, they think it refers to someone that wins so much in gambling, that it is now a profession for them.

They are just saying that to cover their losses. I can tell you for sure that they are losing a lot money gambling, because there is no such thing as a professional when it comes to gambling. Winning only happens when luck is on your side; nothing else can change the outcome of the game.

Do you mean to say responsible gambler or professional gamblers? I don’t think there is anything as professional gambler. Maybe let say a profitable gambler can be understandable. I will regard a gambler that only risk what he can afford to lose and not greedy enough to always go for higher odds and risky pick as a responsible gambler. Also a responsible gambler can that which doesn’t chase loses when they are on a losing streak. it will only take a responsible gambler to control their emotions when the loses is getting out of hand And maintaining proper risk and financial management.

To my best of knowledge and experience from other gamblers that leaves around always says, you see this word professional gamblers, to me i don't see any reason of tagging or calling someone a professional gamblers but with my little experience, once a gamblers start winning consistently, at that point such a gambler will start seeing himself or calling himself a professional gamblers, but what they seen to forget is that, gambling is basically by luck, so if are able to arrange your games in such away that you will be lucky to win always, that doesn't make you a professional.

It's not about how you rate yourself, it's about what your stats show. People nowadays are experts in everything, but it's mostly noise... A lot of talk backed up with nothing.

It's a point when you actively spend a lot of time researching & playing, and you earn enough to make a living. It can be sports betting, where you spend most of the time gathering intel and waiting for the right bet, or you can be a poker player spending hours at poker tables. Try to sit & play poker for +5 hours without losing your discipline & focus! Try to be patient and wait for the right sports events for you while spending hours researching... And even all that doesn't mean much if you don't have that special ingredient called luck! You can do everything by the book and still end up with nothing... hard truth!

So what makes a professional is discipline, focus, bankroll management, and a lot of hours put into it... We all have ups & downs, but professionals are making a profit in the long run. It's a big question: how many professional gamblers are around? I guess under 5%, and the rest of us are in that 95%... amateurs & losers...

That’s something we can agree on. There is nothing like a professional gambler. Some gamblers with the high tendency to winning has always associated or referred to themselves with the term but, they are simply a little bit skilled and have some luck on their side. Gambling can always go either side every other day and you can always loss even on your best bet.

There are those that are good in the act of counting cards and some other tricks at board games but, that’s just about it, tricks and for this, they call themselves professionals but, it’s still an act that is frowned at and can result in your dismissal from a game or casino. You can’t be a professional in gambling.

Professional is when a person is able to control himself in any case, including on gambling.
You will be referred to as a professional gambler when you gamble responsibly. You no longer spend money without control, know the time limit and when to end a session. People win while gambling due to their luck and it is something that is constantly changing and no one can claim that I keep my luck with me so that makes no one as professional gambler. There used to be professional tournament players who had rankings and alll they are the only people can claim themselves as professionals and I wish no one to be one because gambling isn't actually a profession.

I will judge a gambler as professional if

(1) The gambler is able to manage losses such that it stays within a budget because losses are normal in gambling, and a gambler's ability to manage it shows professionalism.
(2) The gambler wins from time to time because that is an indication that they actually know what they are doing.

I agreed with you ln your opinion, because even till now I still have the doubts that a professional gambler is someone that do go on extreme risky gambling. Later did I know that those can classify as a chronic or addictive gambler. But for sure when someone is earning and constantly profits from gambling either through the means of partnership or streaming.
