What is your opinion about Gram aka TON coin?

I haven't heard so much about gram lately in any community. Based on the current price movement, it seems it's dying. Even though the price of BTC has pumped for a few days, gram is still bearish.
Even though this project has tons of activity from their GitHub, I don't see big investors going to bet on Gram. Why did they come up with changing the coin name into Gram? It looks like they take the name of MoneyGram.

For me, for now, it's too risky buying and hold this, as you can see it's a stable price down unless we see that this is going to be hype, but no one, so many people, mention this except you.

I have mixed feeling about it, I believe this coin can grow even though they failed to take advantage of the hype of mini apps hosted on telegram platform which heavily utilizes the TON blockchain but the name GRAM is sanctioned by the SEC in 2020 with the $1.7 billion fundraising. The SEC then released an injunction to prohibit distribution of GRAM token to the investors. They also got fined for $18 million which resulted in cancellation of the fundraising.

Long story short, TON got released after that and now they want to rebrand their token to GRAM again which may rule out possibility of being adopted by financial institutions because of the associated history. So, I don't really put much hopes in this coin and not investing in it Never really used their blockchain as well.

I knew about TON during the tap-to-earn airdrop era in 2024, there was even a tap to earn airdrop that rewarded some persons with the TON coin while some of those projects later started to asked members to claim their tokens using TON as fee. It was only during that period that I saw the coin trending, it didn't do a better during the bull season, the all time high was since 2024, if the coin was really of value, it should have pumped to a new all time high in 2025. I remember those days and they were good days as an introduction to the world. But what destroyed that momentum are about those paid to tap.

They're giving more distribution to the users who will pay them more, they're an airdrop but it ended up that you get to pay more to likely receive more tokens although that's not guaranteed.

Telegram has a lot of users, I think they need to restructure their plan and put it first into usage for their very own messaging app for that use case since I see the app itself has a premiums and upgrade if a user wants to avail it.

I think the project is dying gradually because many people don’t use the coin anymore like it has use in the past two years during the era of telegram tap to earn airdrop, now from Ton to Gram, its value keeps dropping gradually because there is no utility in my opinion, and some exchanges have started to delist the project.

The best thing you can do for yourself is not to rely on altcoin to hold for long, the project can die at any moment, it is better to hold on short term not die long to avoid losing your money and wasting your time.

GRAM is a pretty bad coin. For one, it's inflationary - we all learn that inflationary tokenomics don't usually have good ending (yes, we know Ether is inflationary too).  Secondly, in telegram itself, there are a lot of scammy apps; apps that waste your time to play, and or you need to get payout in GRAM, etc. When people get their payout, they usually dump it.

Not something that I'd consider even putting any amount in.

If by "backed" you mean that it's centralized around him, then yes. But that's only because he is CEO of Telegram and if that changes, it will be centralized around Telegram. Similar to BNB was all about CZ before CZ stepped aside.

When telegram first gave up the idea and left it to community, i thought it could have potential without strong centralization and tokens sale, but it clearly keeps on circling back to it with all sort of integration attempts. I have grown to loath telegram because of amount of scams and fake channels in there that aren't shut down even when reported, and the need for integration to it makes TON seem shady as well.

I remember when it was valued over $10 so I'm quite familiar with it. The token did well for a while until Telegram founder was arrested in France. I don't remember the full story anymore but that point marked the peak and GRAM (previously TON) is yet to reach such price levels. Aside the inflationary mechanism which is a concern for me, I'm yet to see GRAM be deeply integrated into the entire telegram app and ecosystem so I see it as a pure speculative play.

I have no interest to get exposure to GRAM right now, maybe in the future.

Nothing special. It's just an ordinary governance coin used to back TON blockchain, which is losing the hype. The chart is so stagnant even after Durov was going back to support it. It seems it's also losing its competition compared to the another L1 blockchain such as Solana.

The back by Durov means nothing. He owns telegram, then what's next? It's not making people are using this become their primary option to speculate.

Its TVL was also peaked at 750m and it's now having only 45m remaining. So i think this blockchain is getting near to its end. There's nothing interesting created by Ton team, and relying upon Durov's name won't help blockchain itself.

All in all, ton is jus another ordinary blockchain that is not worth to take a look.

Another shitcoin to add to the ignore list. The project was brought to mainstream by integrating with Telegram. But this didn't save it from being the last in the queue of utility coins. Even that Telegram enforce app builders to integrate it within their game apps, the token is always not that interesting, even as a trading instrument.
Just imagine if Telegram delist it tomorrow from its support list, what would be the future of that network. By failing to be an utility token with real use cases, I don't deny the idea that Telegram might get rid off it.

That is the advantage that GRAM tokens have with Mini apps and other collection payments in the application, one more cheap transaction, this is still competing with others.
There are still doubts about the increase because there is no real use for its users, so it's better not to pay attention at all, I'll look at other altcoins only.

It wasn't perceived. It actually happened. A lot of us who knew TON through Telegram during the tap–tap era have sad experiences concerning TON, nee GRAM

Nothing farther from the truth. It was because of the so many scam projects using TON then and scamming people that killed that Blockchain. It wasn't even because of the arrest of Durov, its founder. Integrity is a big mark when it comes to this industry. If a sniff anything I doubt concerning a project, I'm instantly moving away from it. TON remains the most disappointing investment I made in 2024.

Well, its founder was arrested in 2024 by French authorities because he doesn't want to cooperate in curbing illegal activities on his platform, and it created a bad reputation for hosting so many scam projects on its platform. These users use TON for their scam activities, and this is the reason why they rebranded their coin from Ton to Gram.

But the feedback is still the same: the coin is still very volatile; its founder needs to do a lot of things to change Telegram's bad image, as it's also harming their coin in the market.

Sometime when things happened, it make some memecoins team to realize their mistakes like what TON team is experiencing over some years because a lot of Ton investors fall victim to scammers that used the name of Ton to scammed a lot of investors that show interest in Ton investment, now that there are many favourable memecoins in the market, it will be difficult for investors to return and trust Ton like before unless the new team start doing what will convince investors that professional teams are the ones controlling Ton with a good evidence that will convince other investors to start adding Ton their investment again.

It is like every good and known projects are like that, only moving in silence. Hype is not always good anyways. It is deadly, which is why we are also advised to stay away from them. Bitcoin price is only recovering on the other hand. I won't consider it a pump, not until we cross our last time's All-Time-High at over $136k.

LMAO! But yeah, that is also the first thing that comes in my mind. Although the real reason why it has a name like that is because it is from TeleGRAM. Remember now? To be honest I like the name better than TON. People will have more idea that the coin was from Telegram (if not Moneygram ).

They can though as long as Telegram is still alive. But nah, they never a failure of taking advantage of mini apps. We see how hype it was back in time. Even at this point, a lot of casinos are still considering it.

I still remember where there was a DEX called StonFi for transactions on the Ton network at that time that gave a lot of profit to its NFT holders, coinciding with the rise of the tap to earn project but I was really interested in StonFi and made a profit of almost $2500. Now there are hardly many ecosystems that grow on the TON network. GRAM failure may be due to investors not seeing anything profitable anymore. It is possible that GRAM could slowly be delisted from various exchanges.

It has been renamed before it did not rise recently. It rose when bitcoin first got to $82700 from $60000 before falling back to $60000 again.

According to some post about this coin few weeks ago, the coin was renamed by the community. I do not know how true this is.

What I think is that if Telegram is still relevant, there is possibility that the coin will pump again. Although, I do not know if it will get to all-time high or not.
