You’re very correct, most times the excitement doesn’t really come from the money that an individual wins, but the experience and bragging right among friends. When you win a bet that everyone else loses, it will automatically turn to something that you guys will remember and laugh about.

Many such story are stored in memories of my childhood as well. Back then we a group of friends used to play Farkle, and it was always very exciting. Most amusing part was that tradition of treating the winning team to snacks or cold drinks after defeat. More than winning or losing, it was  prospect of hanging out together and treating one another that truly kept spirit of game alive.

Don't be naive to think that people are betting for fun. Yeah I do agree that in some cases like local sports betting the amount of genuine fun is relatively higher but at the end of the day no one wants to bet and lose regardless of how small it is. This is interesting. I have never really come across community bets. It's usually among friends I am familiar with. It's actually a very good thing. People get to leave as one big family in a community. Instead of people just minding their business, they have some sought creative a huge community bond. I love this.

Mine isn't cricket, we do not play cricket in my country. What we use in my case is either football or table tennis, and it is usually fun. There are times when we just go to the field to play because some people are arguing that a set of players would beat the others, and just because of that, the match would be played and at the end the winning team would share the reward.

A lot of people back then were scared to partake in those bets because they felt like those doing it were cultists, which they actually were. But it was fun for those of us who actually participated, even though it wasn't for a long time.
