So I've been using Epicbet for relatively small bets with high odds, just something to scratch the itch.

I have already gone through the passport identification and it's been no problem using the website for about a year or so.

Today I was putting in some money to bet on this weekends games and after they accepted my money and put it into my account I noticed a new account message about proof of residence where I need to give them even more information, which at this point i'm not comfortable giving them.

Luckily it was only 20 euros that I placed into my account so the loss isn't catastrophic, but after reading their new terms I don't accept giving up that kind of information ( pictures of bills related to residence or other types of proof ).

Within 10 minutes I tried to withdraw the amount which has never been a problem for me before when I have tried to do so and was met with a refusal based on not giving the information.

My question is mostly how is this even allowed? Why are they allowed to take the money as a deposit but refusing withdrawal literally within 10 minutes citing the lack of information about my place of residence? ( Which I'm sure they have a bunch of Telemetry already confirming I am a resident of where I said I am )

Again I know it's a really small amount compared to the amounts being thrown around here but I still think its a scummy way to do business and I wouldn't recommend anyone to use epicbet for anything.

First is the deposit, then my refusal of withdrawal, answer from an agent about why they refused withdrawal, and more withdrawals which have never been a problem before.

I am surprised that a 20 Euros deposit could trigger proof of residence request. I for one would not be too comfortable giving up that information for such a small amount, if i won a large amount of money, then yes, but for a small amount, i'd just let it go.

Did you wager with the deposit or you just tried to withdraw what you deposited?
Well, you can count yourself lucky that this came up now, not when you won something substantial, maybe then, you'd have been left with no choice but to tell them where you live and what you had for breakfast and they could still fail to release the funds after all that.

Are you saying they recently updated their terms to allow them request proof of some address? Checking their ToS i can see a reservation for that, if you have an archived version of their terms that does not include it, we can check it out.

Are you allowed to still play or is that restricted already?.
Drop a message with support informing them of your decision to not continue with providing personal information. Since your balance is not proceeds of winning they should ideally be willing to allow you withdraw it and then close the account.

One thing I know about casinos is that they will force you to first KYC even if you are just withdrawing your funds and no longer want to use their platform which I sometimes feel is something unfair. If the user wants to close the account, then just give them their funds and close the account. simple as that

Regarding the KYC levels, unlike crypto exchanges,  most casinos with ask for proof of address and source of funds at one point so it's very important you consider this before signing up.

To be fair, if a casino has requested KYC or any additional personal info, they cannot just allow a player withdraw their money, because they asked to have their account closed. It would be abused by players who are caught cheating, when they are asked for KYC, they will just ask for their account to be closed.

This is different from what the OP's case is though, they already passed KYC, i don't see why they have to provide proof of residence for just €20.

This is one thing I do not really like about gambling site or those sites that calls themselves a "no-kyc" gambling site but whereby when there's a huge winning you would see them opening their AML polices, so that they could possibly asked the winner to bring their identification information and whenever they weren't able to raise it they would use that medium to withheld the person funds and make them not to have access to their funds, except otherwise proven not to be guilty.

Your withdrawals aren't even that big in the past and your history doesn't seem suspicious. But this might be related to the compliance they're doing done to them by the regulators. I don't think it's fair that you already had sent them your passport and for 20 euros, they'll ask you with additional doc. This will show the community that even just for a few bucks, they're going to ask to supplement the current docs you have provided them even if your withdrawal isn't a lot.

Almost all casinos have these kinds of rules in their Terms and Conditions, so if you don't want the possibility of getting asked for these documents, you'd be better off looking for a casino that does not ask for KYC. You can check the gambling board for that.

First is the deposit, then my refusal of withdrawal, answer from an agent about why they refused withdrawal, and more withdrawals which have never been a problem before.

Judgin by the screenshot you shared. It's one of their AML policy, I remember reading that casinos won't release the funds/deposit until the gambler comply to the KYC the casino is aking for. If you comply with their request, they'd probably release your deposit.

What are the chances of finding such a casino? I'd wager that it is slim to none. Even if the casino advertises itself as NO-KYC, i'm telling you not to believe that, there is still a possibility that they would ask you for your personal information during your time in the casino.
If you comply with their request, they'd probably release your deposit.
That's not even certain. So many casinos would ask you for KYC and still end up blocking your account if you submit it. I guess they do that so they can identify the user if they create another account in the casino.

Maybe they have changed a policy and it's unknown to you, i think it's our duty to be checking the policy of a platform before we funds accounts on that very platform, because assuming you checked their terms you would have notice a new development...

All those requirements they asked you, is as same KYC verification document, obviously, they wants you to been verified before making a withdrawal....

Luckily it was only 20 euros that I placed into my account so the loss isn't catastrophic, but after reading their new terms I don't accept giving up that kind of information ( pictures of bills related to residence or other types of proof ).
I am surprised that a 20 Euros deposit could trigger proof of residence request. I for one would not be too comfortable giving up that information for such a small amount, if i won a large amount of money, then yes, but for a small amount, i'd just let it go.
From my perspective, it's not because of the amount of deposit that's making them to demand for a proof, maybe management has change hands and new terms and conditions has been enshrined, and it's unaware to op.

True, I should have mentioned that. But anyway, it wouldn't hurt to look. Also, I'm not 100% certain, but as far as I know, Bitvest doesn't ask for KYC. I mean, I don't remember them ever having a gambler complain about being asked for KYC(of course I know that is not a confirmation that they will never ask for KYC).

That's not even certain. So many casinos would ask you for KYC and still end up blocking your account if you submit it. I guess they do that so they can identify the user if they create another account in the casino.
True, but the casino would usually release the deposit if the gambler complies with the KYC request(but if I remember correctly, it can be situational), there have been cases like this before. I'm just telling the OP that if he ever wants that $20, he'd have to comply with the KYC request.
