Life is all about great opportunities. The only difference is, you are no longer chasing that big opportunity, but that opportunity is the one chasing you. So go for it. That could be your initial step while you are saving for your future own textile business.

If it works for you in the long run and you enjoy and get comfortable with it, then there's no reason leaving it. But if it does not work for you, maybe that only serves as your beginner's step while you are preparing for a better future ahead with your own textile business.

You did not mention if you already have a family, because responsibilities will have an impact on your preference between a job that you love and the one that can sustain you.

But if you're still single, then be adventurous and go for the things that you love and excel at. If you are in an industry that you love, you can achieve whatever you want, and it's not even work for you; you're exploring your creativity.

I graduated in textiles; at the same time, I was enthusiastic about tech. So I learned a lot about development. I have lots of experience doing this. I completed quite a few freelance projects as a full-stack developer.

Since I just recently graduated, my job life will begin now. But recently I got an offer from an IT company as a full-stack developer; the salary range is quite good compared to my graduation sector.

I always feel great , and enjoy development. That is why I spent lot's of time doing this. But I graduated in a completely different sector , thinking about the job market. Since it has a great demand in my country. Also, my dream was always to have my own business; that is why I chose this sector for my graduation.

If I switch carriers now, would that make me an idiot? And am I being brain dead?

It  am in so much confusion.
There are a hell of a lot of stories to take lessons from. I know one successful person with a story worth sharing. Her husband has a good job, but the wife wanted to start a business. He didn't want her to start it alone, so this makes the story a little bit different, and almost every story will be different.

She convinced him to leave his job, but they made a plan. She started small, working with him while he continued his job. He didn't leave his job until they saw results, so in this case, there were two of them. If you are alone, then you have to manage things properly, but I know one can't manage both things at the same time. You have to figure out how to manage them.

I suggested both because I have seen so many people who left their jobs and are now unemployed. Their businesses are only getting them into debt. But there are also people who left their jobs and whose businesses really grew. You're into textiles, and you want to start your own business, and I'm sure it will need a lot of investment too. Anyway, I can't say much, but I also know someone who is into textiles. He is not a developer, though, as I think your interest is in development. But I suggest you should give business a chance, but do it without leaving your job if that's possible.

Just accept that offer it won't make you an idiot but a smart one. Since you got a good offer with good salary range then it makes sense to accept such offer no matter if you have done your studies in other area. If I were in your situation I would most probably go for it because at such age an offer like that is no less than a goldmine so take advantage of the offer and accept it. To be honest you can do so many things as full stack developer these days and in such sector AI can be very helpful to save you a lot of time.

Switching careers is completely fine. It does not make you an idiot. Choosing a career where you have your personal interest, you have experience and also there is good earning opportunity then it is a very reasonable and sensible decision to switch your career to that path. A degree gives more options. It is not a limitation that can prevent someone from exploring the other available opportunities. If you have already invested a good amount of time in learning development, or you have completed some freelance projects and also received a good job offer, that simply means you have required skills. That are valued in the market. So there is no reason for you to ignore that opportunity. Simply because you have graduated with some other degree.

Also, a career is not a lifetime commitment. You can switch it at any time. You can start as a full time stack developer, gain experience, build your savings and with those savings you can become financially stable and start some other business later on in life.

You don't have to be confused mate because I personally believe you're already on the right track and if you're to take my advise, then I would advise that you accept the job offer from the IT firm and atleast use the opportunity from the job to start up the textile business because starting up the business you learnt from school is a capital intensive one and running a business isn't a child's play, so since you're been offered a job now, you should go for the IT job since you said the payment is good and try to raise some money to start the textile business, because with this, you wouldn't be so much stranded as a business owner.

At this point there were no right or wrong answer, whatever you choose is your choice, I mean as long as you have a good income and you love what you are doing that is what is just important at the moment.

If you are going to ask me, I would probably going to try everything since I was still just on middle age, I mean you could still try anything you want, its free to explore at that age because you just graduated, there were nothing wrong about it, you could start the full stack developer job and then easily quit along the way if you don't feel like it because you have a lot of time, it's easy to switch anyway.

So it is better to try everything while you still have time, unlike when you stay on the same lane the whole time, and you are already stuck on it because you are already commited on that job then you might waste it if you leave.

The subject you completed your graduation in was undoubtedly right for you, but it is not a matter of you going to work in a field related to that subject. Many people complete their graduation in various engineering sectors and instead of working in the engineering field, they are seen doing general jobs. That is, if you are completing your graduation to earn money in life, then you can complete your professional experience by taking a job in any field. Remember, if the job market in the country you live in is very bad, then go where you feel good in that field, in this case you do not have to do your textile related job. And go where you feel perfect and set yourself up for that job field, I do not think there is any reason to be stupid in this case.

If I switch carriers now, would that make me an idiot? And am I being brain dead?

It  am in so much confusion.

This is a funny question, because this is exactly 💯 what everyone is doing these days, I mean diversification, I don't think graduating in a particular field will limit you to that field. I mean, there are so many other fields to explore and diversify your work ethic, especially if you love doing that thing and in this case you have already learned the skill in which you are being offer the job, so why wait? An opportunity like this doesn't come knocking always so grab that shit and get on it mate.

You didn't mentioned your age but switching careers are generally good for you but before the switch, you should absolutely establish some base on it. Like if you are going into a business, you could register it and start even before resigning from your job.
I'm in ma mid 30s and planning to retire of my current job in mid 40s to venture to my own business and I have already started the plannings and actions to build it up, My company policy didn't let me register a business on my name so I used my family member to set it up and I'm going to operate it in shadows, currently its just in its initial phase and if it gets success, I might leave my job sooner.

Since you graduated with a degree in textile and have completed development work and you have become a good experienced person. I think your career must have taken a good step, as a result you have been very successful at present, since you have managed a job where the salary is also quite good. If you do development work yourself along with your job, and complete the work by focusing on freelancing projects, then you will definitely be more financially independent. Since your dreams have been fulfilled, you have got a job in a good position, and you are an experienced developer, then if you want, you can start a good business. If you focus on a business along with your job and think about the future, it will be good, if you want, you can open a business on your own and hire employees there. And when you can gradually take a business to a good state, you will be able to own a lot of money. If you work for 10 years, besides this, you can establish a business, it will be great if you leave your job and continue that business later, I think.

To me there is really nothing wrong in switching careers, sometimes what we plan to do might be different from what God has destined for us so it is really normal to go for a career different from what you study in school. Many people are doing something different from what they studied or plan to become. I think what matters most is enjoying what you do and being passionate about it. Some people might choose something different because it offers higher pay, it could be a different reason.

If you switch career I don’t think it will make you an idiot at all as long as you love what you’re doing.

Switching profession is not a bad idea it can be due to various reasons, personally, socially and otherwise. Like you just pointed, amount of money in return has help your decision to switch profession and looking at the profession you switched into, that's a good consideration "full stack developers are in hot demand. Combining switch of profession that happened with your drive to own a business can become what you had ever hoped for but didn't really foresee it coming, much more when the full stack developer job is from home. That means you have much time to start planning and executing your business plan as much as possible.

Geographical location and so many other factors can be the unavoidable influence to the switching of profession from higher to lower or lower to higher which ever way it happens, the end is to make ends meet in the first place coupled with various other reasons.

There are so many people like you OP, you want something for yourself and life decides something else for you, don't stress yourself over it, you having all the skills you want is good enough because you can survive anywhere.

My diligent advice is take things slow, let the nature decides for you, in this life we aren't going to get things the exact way that we want it, just know that many people can't even learn two things at same time.

They can't handle two or more carriers, some people are still stuck in the past today because they fail to evolve, once we have AI and future techs they failed to accept it and their business is suffering for it, this isn't your case so you are good.

You are skilled in development and you enjoy this work, build your career here. You have completed your graduation in textile subject, this is institutional knowledge for you, you can use this experience to build an alternative source of income.

I think you should accept the job offer from IT company. Your salary will increase as a result of increasing experience in the development sector. If you can show your skills in this sector, you will also have the possibility of getting promoted quickly.

Along with working, you can also run a textile related business. If you work in an IT company for 8 hours a day, you can spend a few more hours in the textile business for extra income, which will increase your financial capacity.

No, that is make you an idiot because you take the chance to be an IT company. You can work temporary for a while until you can find a job that you want. You should see the reality that searching for a job is difficult and you are one of the lucky person who got an offer. Switching career is okay and many people did that but they should think carefully and not make a rush decision. While you have a chance, use it and don't wait because time will not take you back to start.

Bro you should have made this decision earlier before your taking admission in textile because i think a person should choose the field in which he love doing the work with all heart and give 100 percent to it but anyways whats done is done now you are saying that i am passionate about development and IT sector and also you have got an offer from IT company so i think you should choose this field for yourself like you are passionate that means that you will work hard and with your heart on other side if you choose the textile field so you will be not happy their and also some tough challenges will came in that field which will discourage you. I am not saying that only choose IT. Choose that field in which you can see your longterm success.

Unfortunately, OP, living and being where you like best is no longer relevant in our reality. I've read all the answers, and I've seen that people are actively supporting you. But today, AI competes with humans, and that's why you need to weigh all the risks of your future profession, whether you love it or not. Microsoft is offering about 60,000 employees a voluntary exit in order to reduce staff numbers without mass layoffs. The number doesn't seem small; all the people have lost their jobs. Today, the choice of profession should be such that the human mind is not replaced by AI. Only exceptional specialists will be able to work in the field of IT technologies, and you will have to have good abilities to prove your relevance.

Change that mindset, it's not right to think of yourself like those just because you're not confident of changing your career.

It's normal to be confused at the moment because it's far from where you have started. And this happens because of what we call 'life'.

You'll figure it out soon why there have been professionals and have decent salary and yet, they chose to live in isolated life, chose to be a farmer or those unconventional careers in the perspective of young lads who are still in exploration of their lives and careers.

I understand the confusion is because you are caught between the things that you love and your dreams; if I am in your situation, I'd go for the things that I love and fully develop my skills because later on I can integrate what I've learned from the course that you finished and establish my business.

The most important thing is that you pursue both what you love and your dreams, be active in pursuing both, and you will reach your goal and, at the same time, do the things that you love.
