This is a common question that you should also already have an answer for as to why you gamble. I gamble to make a profit from betting. Of course, it’s not always profitable, but I know the risks. This topic has been addressed dozens of times, the answer is simple and you can even give it to yourself independently, would you play a paid game for fun? Yes, but let's talk about video games, one could be world of warcraft (you pay a monthly subscription and you play games).
But in gambling the issue is different, do you play for fun? If so, what do you enjoy? I am amused by the thrill of the risk of making mistakes and the suspense of guessing an event, a match and obviously winning some money (I say win and not earn simply because you earn with work, you win with gambling).
That said, if you're a gambler or want to become one, why would you actually do it?
PS. I like some games (in fact in some cases I play them in the free version with fake money).

All of them can motivate gamblers to enter gambling. But most likely, its the profits that keep up the interest of the gamblers and make them excited more to keep betting until they hit the jackpot or a huge win.

Now that most of the major league are up and running, after key games, you see fans reacting very badly at teams, most times, you might get tempted to believe that their annoyance is because their favorite team have lost. in most cases that is not the truth. their annoyance is mostly because they picked certain teams to win and were to certain about the result which led to them betting with an outrageous amount they could not afford to loose. if things goes contrary, it eventually leads to their anger.

Gambling can be exciting sometimes for players but what leads to genuine excitement is when players win. once players loose, all the excitement goes and that is a clear indication that profit is the key recipe for joy as long as gambling is concerned.

And not everyone has the same purpose, the purpose is different. Some are financially well-off and gamble only for entertainment, but most people, due to their financial situation, dream of winning big from gambling and becoming rich, and that is why they gamble. Everyone has their own reasons why they gamble... Your reasons for gambling could be different from mine, same as other gamblers.. To everyone, their purpose of gambling might be different maybe for fun or profit but a higher percentage is definitely for profit and I also gamble for profit. People gamble for different reasons, and this has been discussed several times here , but I believe it's only few that gamble for excitement or fun , but majority is for profit,I can't spend money on gambling with the hope of losing ,it's really for profit, and the reason why people go back after losing is because they feel or hope next time may favour them , I know how many times I told myself I will  never gamble but I always find myself going back ,apart from one certain I had cut one and I was deny huge amount just because of one point and it was the last game ,the heart breaking was very disheartening that I had to quit for sometime before going back , so I believe genuine excitement on gambling is when it is accompany with winning.

Only that it’s not a question that has a universal answer for that question. I’m pretty sure this question has been asked and even answered more times than I can remember, and it beats me that people still keep on asking it.

Just like I always answer, every gambler has different expectations from gambling, for some, it’s all about the fun, and for others, it’s all about the fun, and for others it’s all about the profit, it could even be both for some, and I don’t think it really matters much anymore, as long as it’s been done moderately and responsibly, that’s all that matters.

Their statement actually answers your question, OP. If, for example, their goal were purely to have fun, then losing shouldn’t upset them after all, losing has been part of the game from the start. It’s also unlikely that they’d be greedy and try to recoup their losses when they lose. In conclusion, you’re talking about gamblers who come with the goal of making money and who are also irresponsible.

All players are different. They have different goals, temperaments, levels of intelligence, and opportunities. And you want to find the one goal and reason behind it. That makes no sense.
At the same time, even the same player can play for profit, but play for fun on weekends.
There is no single answer, and yet all answers are true. Gambling is a tool that can be used for many purposes, though not always successfully - don't forget that.
