Because when a trader loses it trades when trading it creates a mindset of frustration in the traders mind that makes the trader to start chasing its losses by risking more funds to place more impulsive trades just to recover back it loss funds. This situation makes the trader to be so addicted to trade due to how desperate he is to trade back his lost money at all costs. And also since the trading market operates 24/7 with non stop and it never closes it makes traders to trade on a regular basises any time they want which results to placing frequent unplanned trade out of excitement because the trading market is always open and active anytime, any day they want to have access to it to trade which at the end will make them become so addictive to trading.
So I think trading can be addictive just like gambling.

Do you agree with me that people can get addicted to trading just like gambling or You don't agree?
Share Your own opinions and thoughts.

Trading like gambling is very addictive because it is about profit and loss. Especially when someone does futures trading or leverage trading, it becomes very addictive for him because there he can increase his small amount of capital several times along with profit and loss. This makes him very addicted because he sees that if he trades $100 with 10x leverage, his trade amount is $1000 and by taking such a large amount of trade, he can easily increase his capital quickly if he can trade correctly. This kind of opportunity makes him very addicted to trading. Due to which he loses control over himself and spends a lot of time there. And in this case, he cannot make a profit on average but loses a lot of money. However, despite losing, he cannot stop trading because he gets used to it and it becomes his addiction.

We all have different opinions about this but for me it depends on how you see trading. If you are a trader with a psychology of a true trader, you most likely have good patience and calm mind on your trades, you won't chase losses or having rush decisions, every step is planned and has logic behind it. It's unlikely that you will get addicted to it since you have a mind conditioned to do calculated moves.

Winning is addicting and doing it on trading, it's much more addicting since it shows the fruit of hard work in studying and experimenting you did. Though being addicted on trading doesn't mean they are always winning, there are people who are getting addicted because they keep chasing their losses and not realizing that they are addicted.

Addiction can happen to you basically on anything, it must not necessary be a good or head thong but just as far you do that thing multiple times, you're prone to addition and that's also why too much of everything is bad. As little as drinking of water is, you can be addicted to that and addiction isn't a positive habit to have  irrespective of what you're getting addicted to. It can start as a harmless habit that you're developing then it turns harmful before you realize so it's always best to tackle adduction from the moment you begin to notice a pattern before it's too late. Trading and gambling have numerous similarities so obviously there's always going to be the risk of an addiction in both activity. Trading deals with money and chasing after money is one of the top reasons why people become addicted. Trading addiction is just as worst as gambling addiction is.
Yes I agree; I have an addiction to drinking Coca-Cola, for example, something I did not see in many people. Sure, a lot of people have addictions to gambling, drugs, even smoking cigarettes, or drinking booze. But I do not see many people with a Coca-Cola addiction. Yet, I have it, and it is weird, but it is the same psychology behind it. We do it because it makes us feel like we are doing something and not that complicated or weird. We can't really see this changing all that much; we have to accept the fact that there is something in our brain,  no idea what it is, but there is something that makes it easier for us to get addicted.

Gambling addiction is not longer a news and a careful and free minded look on trading will reveal the excellent percentage similarities between trading and gambling. So if gambling is addictive, trading is addictive also as another form of gambling. Trading can so take over someone's mindset that they'll do no matter what. Just like in gambling, many has sold their hard earned resources for the sake of trading and that's out of addiction "trading being in control of your reasoning". Trading can be highly addictive.

The way most people see trading is completely different from how it’s suppose to be. Some people are into trading because they are after quick profits, people like this are not always having patience when they trading, they don’t even have proper knowledge about trading. Immediately they start losing from trading, they get frustrated and will want to recover the amount which they have lost.

Some of them even go to the extent of borrowing money just to trade, they are always thinking if they make some profits, they will return the money which they borrow, if people like this end up losing money, they will be frustrated, and will want to do everything possible to recover their loss. People like this will end up getting addicted to trading, and they going to lose more money.

Yes, there are some similarities between gambling addiction and trading addiction. Both of them are about profits-losses, people trying to recover losses, and people become addicted because they do it in an excessive way. But this may happen because those people are lack of understanding about trading. So, they assume trading can treat as gambling. Meanwhile people who understand trading, they won't do it same as gambling. So, they won't be addicted as in gambling.

Trading can be addictive, but that is not because it has lot in common with gambling. As a few member have already pointed out, just about anything can become addictive. It's not limited to gambling, and trading, or other money related activities.

Someone who's addicted to trading isn't necessarily lacking understanding either. Even an expert can get hooked once they slowly lose control over their trading, feel the urge to open positions and chase that rush every time the market gets volatile...

It's a self control problem, not just a matter of knowledge or experience.

At the very start, trading and gambling are not much different. Both have similar impacts on our mind. Not just in trading, you also chase profits in gambling. A loss will only motivate you to place another bet thinking you can recover that loss.

Even in trading, you will keep chasing profits and will try to recover loss by opening multiple trades. This is not going to make you earn any profits but that will make you gain experience at the very start which will fuel your future journey. One needs to be patient in both trading and gambling and do not keep chasing profits. Sometimes, sitting back and relaxing is just an another way of maintaining your profit.

There are definitely similarities between trading and gambling, especially in two areas where people become addicted when they reach an extreme. Many times, with overconfidence, many people think that they will not become addicted by playing gambling and trading, but those people are seen in a more addictive state. In the case of trading and gambling, it consumes people so much mentally that it becomes addictive. There are some people who lose in trading and gambling and then enter again in stages to recover those money in full and at one stage they lose all their money. When they lose, if they cannot stop, it gradually consumes the mentality of the person which he does not understand, at that stage he starts moving towards addiction seriously.

Addiction is a condition where you lose control of yourself in any situation. And it happens to both trading and gambling. But there is a difference…being addicted to gambling is terrible. But getting to a place where you can make money (trading) is somewhat different.

If I have to choose, which one? I certainly choose trading, no doubt.

But here is the real situation. Only a few people want to risk their money on trading rather than gambling. It is too much to say, but because of fancy bonuses and high rewards in gambling, people become crazy about it rather than pressuring themselves into a real market battle, trading.

At the very start, trading and gambling are not much different. Both have similar impacts on our mind. Not just in trading, you also chase profits in gambling. A loss will only motivate you to place another bet thinking you can recover that loss.

You can master trading and become profitable, but it is too difficult in gambling.

It's not impossible that someone can get addicted to trading because anything that is done in excess becomes a big problem on the longer run. It is rare for any trader to say he is addicted or agree to it because they want to look like they are always in control of the situation, but the truth is that trading can be addictive as gambling, and it's even more worse than gambling because it messes with your mental health once you get to that level, but I think that it's quite easier to stop than gambling addiction that will take something extraordinary to pull someone out of it.

A person who loses money in trading will try to make it back by other methods of trading, usually more risky short term trading or non-spot trading routes.

This is the leading cause of why certain people will get addicted to it and enter a debt cycle. Because these non-spot trading methods like leverage, margin - these are all gambling and not actual trading which is the spot trading.

Hence it is essentially gambling, which is addictive and hence we tend to label that as trading addiction.

Any activity that requires continuous participation can be addictive.

People don't get addicted to gambling after one trial. The same thing goes for trading. The more you trade, the more likely you are to want to keep trading.

Addiction in trading begins when the trader is chasing their losses. In a way, trading and gambling have similarities with regard to the way individuals react to losses and winnings when participating.

Yes, that’s right. I also agree that people can become addicted to trading just like gambling, where they often ignore the importance of managing their emotions which causing them to act greedily. Many traders also become addicted because they fail to follow basic rules regarding their targets. And they end up exceeding the initial targets they set for themselves. Losses or wins in trading can lead to addiction, where when they win they still feel unsatisfied due to greed or even when they lose they may resort to revenge trading which ultimately undermines their progress. So I personally the see similarities between trading and gambling as both can lead anyone to become addicted. But the solution to overcoming all of this is to understand risk management alongside the importance of trading psychology to maintain a sound mindset while trading. On the other hand a trading journal is also necessary to evaluate the process you’ve followed so far allowing you to identify and even address your shortcomings in trading.

Of course, someone can experience a trading addiction like someone experiences a gambling addiction, of course with certain patterns and factors.

For example, when experiencing a loss, most of those who carry out trading activities often experience sensational behavior and hallucinations to chase the loss, Most people hope and hope to get back the money they lost while trading in the crypto market, that's exactly the same situation people gamble with.

In addition, currently access to trading applications is quite easy, if you are addicted before starting your activity again it's like you can't sleep, this is the same as if you are addicted to online gambling.

Because of money people getting addicted trading they have seen an opportunity to create money but they are different because if you wanted to trade this requires a capital, knowledge and skills, when it comes to gambling all you need is capital.. well depends on the game if you wanted to play like strategy base such as cards, and numbers but if solely slot I dont think so you can be profitable in the long run in gambling. The good thing right now is that there is a mass adoption of trading and investing among people, they are now aware of the potential of trading and financial literacy. Just balance and not become greedy.

I agree with you halfway. Trading addiction can be just as serious as gambling, mostly because traders do not see themselves as addicted, they just think they're putting in the work. That's what makes it so concerning.

But I don't get why you'd say it's easier to quit when you just admitted it's worse than gambling.

Imo , once you're hooked , whatever your poison is, kicking the habit is about equally hard. It's even rougher on the stubborn folks who are in denial about having a problem, convinced they're grinding toward a goal.

You can become addicted to almost anything; it doesn't have to be a good or head thong, but as long as you do it repeatedly, you're prone to addiction, which is also why having too much of anything is bad. Even something as simple as drinking water can lead to addiction, and addiction is never a good habit, regardless of the substance to which you are addicted. It's best to address adduction as soon as you notice a pattern before it's too late because it can begin as a harmless habit you're developing and turn harmful before you realize it.

Given the many similarities between gambling and trading, it goes without saying that both activities carry a risk of addiction. One of the main causes of addiction is trading and chasing money. Addiction to trading is as bad as addiction to gambling.

Addiction in trading begins when the trader is chasing their losses. In a way, trading and gambling have similarities with regard to the way individuals react to losses and winnings when participating.

You are making a phrase similar to being completely addicted to gambling, which is not applicable in the case of trading. There is a risk of addiction in both trading and gambling, but the processes are completely different. Firstly, there is no significant skill or experience required to play gambling. But in the case of trading, skill and study are applicable. I firmly believe that no trader tries to recover losses like a gambler. Because in trading, it is almost impossible.

There is no need for analysis before betting on a slot machine (completely luck based) but it is applicable in trading. When a trader fails to conduct accurate analysis, they will often face losses.

So I think trading can be addictive just like gambling.
There's no gainsaying that fact. It's incontrovertible. I think addiction has to do with where one's passion strays to or where one feels there's financial benefit coming from. Addiction doesn't grow on thin air. There has to be something. It's the same way a lot of people are addicted to this forum and others.

Nonetheless, I like the feel of being addicted to trading than gambling.
