mSecure developer mSeven Software has alerted current and former customers to a security incident, urging them to change passwords as soon as possible.

The warning, received by users on November 3, 2026, offers little detail about what happened, leaving customers questioning whether their vault contents are at risk.

In the notification shared on social media, mSeven says it recently discovered suspicious activity associated with the mSecure application. The company says it launched an investigation, took steps to mitigate the issue, and brought in external cybersecurity experts. It does not identify the affected systems, the incident’s timeframe, or the number of customers potentially impacted.

Not sure if everyone here is using this password manager, but in any case, I will just leave it here. As and per advise, you need to change your password ASAP as they reported a suspicious activity in their system.

There have been so many reports lately about alleged and even confirmed hacks involving exchanges and similar platforms that i wouldn't be surprised if this report turns out to be true. Given what's been happening in this space, it's certainly not something i'd dismiss outright.

Using password manager while you are in crypto is so risky, that's why I wonder why there are people still use that platforms.

If this is used to store id and password on our online games played, then its tolerable. But for exchange and other important sites which we usually stored our funds? that's a big NO.

That's why I'm not surprised about this situation to happen. Then yet better learn from it and just safekeep their important details on more secure places.

I think this is in relation with the warnings that have been said by the governments of rampant cyber attacks.
So, it's not only limited to the crypto space but also to any platform that's being targeted or passed by by these hackers.
And I think people who uses these password managers need to use alternatives and traditional method of jotting it down their details on a paper/note book.

Never use a password manager, this is very risky especially if you use a third party then indirectly this will be easy for other people to break especially now that hacking has started.

Password - just remember it with a strong word or write it on paper to make it more secure.
I myself do with memory maybe some easy passwords, while complex passwords are then written on paper.

And I think people who uses these password managers need to use alternatives and traditional method of jotting it down their details on a paper/note book.
This method has its own specific security procedures that must be implemented; otherwise, it is no different from storing data digitally in an offline application like Notepad. Personally, I combine both methods, not as a backup, but as a form of mapping.

It's fine if you know how to use it and not solely relying on it to keep your info.
But you're right that if its function is just the same as storing info digitally, the risk has been there all the time like for these security incidents.
A back up is a must even if someone believes and trusts password managers like mSecure. While no one stops from using such.
Always remember the risk that it has because if it involves funds, money, credentials and other accounts, better think of more sophisticated ways.

I honestly think that nowadays a lot of people use password manager, I used both google and apple password manager because it's very convenient and allow us to have a really long and strong password without forgetting about it. I wonder if they're investing good money into their security infrastructure, I hope they do.

I personally never used dedicated password manager services offered by a company whose sole product is password manager though, it feels unsecure handing over password to third party company even if they encrypted the whole thing.

If I recall correctly, Google password manager have on-device encryption that encrypt the passwords behind device specific biometric that even Google themselves can't have access to.

I'm not using any password manager for that matter, I'm still go with the old and traditional way of writing everything down specially with crypto assets on some of my laptop that I used, not big though but still I don't like using password manager.

And there have been a lot of news before that most of them are vulnerable to attacks. So this could be a eye opener for those who are using it, I can't blame you for doing so, but then again, every one is vulnerable so it's better to take some precautions that at least we have total control of.

As much as we gave warning that they shouldn't use any password manager, there could be a lot of them as we can see that there are a lot of password managers ever since the start of crypto boom and it's because it's very convenient for us not to remember anything, thus a password manager is a must.

However, with the rampant attacks on anything that is related to crypto, even a password manager is not a target. Even if Google has this kind of security though, we all know that there is this human element that might eventually the weak chain link and we become the next victim.

People should seriously stop using random closed source password managers.  Tongue
I am not saying exploits can't happen with open source projects, but at least with KeePass and similar projects you have everything encrypted locally.
One more positive thing is that KeePassXC is accepting bitcoin donations for a long time, and that way supporting bitcoin ecosystem.
