It's no longer a news that Godfatherism in Rivers State politics has done us more harm than good. and if you are a Rivers state man or woman, you can possibly attest to this simple fact.

I bring you a case study of (Sim and Wike) politics and godfatherism lifestyle, were Rivers State progress and revenue became the center point. Like my father could say "when two elephants are fighting, it's the grasses and the ground that bears the pains"

The state has been so comatose in the hands of those two. The state has been on a ground of supremacy tuzzle for years, while other states are planning and moving forward.

A blessed state like Rivers state was reduced to the groan level where an old retired Akwaibom man (Ibas) has to come and govern us for six (6) good months. And and later went home with Rivers state milk and honey.

You see where godfatherism reduced us to?
What a fallacy.

Untill we learn from past events, the state won't change for good.

Honestly, Godfatherism has really held Rivers State down. How can a state as blessed as Rivers, with all the oil and revenue still be struggling because of selfish politics?
Look at this whole Sim and Wike case study. The fight has never been about Rivers people, it has always been about who controls the structure and states money and just like your father said, when two elephants fight, na grass Dey suffer . And in this case, we the ordinary Rivers people are the grass.

It is very shameful that other states are planning, building and moving forward, while Rivers State was stuck for years in a supremacy battle. To the point that we had to be governed by someone from outside for 6 good months, who came, spent our time, took his own share of our milk and honey and left. This is what Godfatherism has reduced us to. If we don’t learn from this and reject this system of Godfatherism this state will continue to go in circles. We need leaders who will put Rivers first, not Godfathers fight for their own pockets.

This is a statement of fact and it has reduced the once garden city to a State of dirts without a leadership that oversees the affairs of the state except for a one Man (Wike) who acts as a demigod God to the governor Siminalaye Fubara, one thing is to handpick someone and made him governor and the other thing is to allow him excercise his powers as a sitting governor of the State which was being crippled by Nyesom Wike.

The governor has plans to better the lives of Rivers people but because of the Godfatherism and the agreements he has signed he couldn't do anything outside the instructions given to him by his godfather. I totally blame Sim Fubara for embarking on a fight he knows he can't win, why not wait for second tenure and then fight because that would have been a good time to strike and liberation will come in, it's not only in Rivers State politics that Godfatherism has affected and that's the major challenges that cripples every good vision by a successor.
