It's no longer a news that Godfatherism in Rivers State politics has done us more harm than good. and if you are a Rivers state man or woman, you can possibly attest to this simple fact.

I bring you a case study of (Sim and Wike) politics and godfatherism lifestyle, were Rivers State progress and revenue became the center point. Like my father could say "when two elephants are fighting, it's the grasses and the ground that bears the pains"

The state has been so comatose in the hands of those two. The state has been on a ground of supremacy tuzzle for years, while other states are planning and moving forward.

A blessed state like Rivers state was reduced to the groan level where an old retired Akwaibom man (Ibas) has to come and govern us for six (6) good months. And and later went home with Rivers state milk and honey.

You see where godfatherism reduced us to?
What a fallacy.

Untill we learn from past events, the state won't change for good.

Honestly, Godfatherism has really held Rivers State down. How can a state as blessed as Rivers, with all the oil and revenue still be struggling because of selfish politics?
Look at this whole Sim and Wike case study. The fight has never been about Rivers people, it has always been about who controls the structure and states money and just like your father said, when two elephants fight, na grass Dey suffer . And in this case, we the ordinary Rivers people are the grass.

It is very shameful that other states are planning, building and moving forward, while Rivers State was stuck for years in a supremacy battle. To the point that we had to be governed by someone from outside for 6 good months, who came, spent our time, took his own share of our milk and honey and left. This is what Godfatherism has reduced us to. If we don’t learn from this and reject this system of Godfatherism this state will continue to go in circles. We need leaders who will put Rivers first, not Godfathers fight for their own pockets.

This is a statement of fact and it has reduced the once garden city to a State of dirts without a leadership that oversees the affairs of the state except for a one Man (Wike) who acts as a demigod God to the governor Siminalaye Fubara, one thing is to handpick someone and made him governor and the other thing is to allow him excercise his powers as a sitting governor of the State which was being crippled by Nyesom Wike.

The governor has plans to better the lives of Rivers people but because of the Godfatherism and the agreements he has signed he couldn't do anything outside the instructions given to him by his godfather. I totally blame Sim Fubara for embarking on a fight he knows he can't win, why not wait for second tenure and then fight because that would have been a good time to strike and liberation will come in, it's not only in Rivers State politics that Godfatherism has affected and that's the major challenges that cripples every good vision by a successor.

It is not just Rivers State but Nigeria as a whole. God fatherism is one of the biggest problem we are facing. I will say it over and over again true power is not in the hands of so called governors and presidents or men with titles. They are just the puppets the puppeteers are using to entertain us.

The whole nation is currently controlled at the backend by so called godfathers who have signed up, sold and delivered the country and its resources to nations they have contracted with.

I agree with you that it's not only Rivers state, that it's the entire nationality (Nigeria) that is suffering this kind of rain of backwardness.

But the Rivers state matter or issue has come to be the biggest and a tough exemplary matter of the day in our dear country, why? Because the leaders are playing football with the state.

They have decided to gamble with state revenue. And my question is, how do we get here and how/when are we going to go out of this condition?
Like, any hope for a better change?

God fatherism is Nigeria is not just in River state, it is in Lagos, Delta, Benin, akwa ibom, in fact all the states. If not that wike and fubara are shameless politicians, we won't have heard about what they were fighting for and won't have known that god fatherism was still existing in river state. Because I thought wike has ended godfatherism but his fights against fubara exposed his true intentions for the people of rivers state,he never meant well for his people.

The truth of the matter is that both wike and fubara are after the resources and to disbursed rivers money everyday without putting the people needs into consideration. It's so unfortunate that the people of rivers state couldn't do anything to send these greedy politicians out of their state or stop them from holding politician positions ever again.

If you look closely you will see that every politician in the country has a godfather but that of river state has made it so obvious that the wave of the fight between sim and wike affected a lot of people, every state has a case of godfatherism but they still do theirs without putting anyone in danger as much as sim and wike did. And there's we get for putting a tyrant or a former cultist on the sit of leadership, wike is an og in the game and which ever way you want it he is ready for fight dirty and I'm sure his younger self has done more worst thing before he even became a politician and now he is using his experiences to control rivers state and its milk and honey.

Until we learn? We? Who is the we?, we the populace or the rulers?

The we should be thr rulers, those in power who have decided not to do things rightly but control and remain in power for years. All those greedy beings up there, they should learn and at least have some shame. Leadership is not control and supremacy. Power if not tyranny. Governor's seat is not a total control and dictatorship.

They did all there nonsense, and the state suffered loses. Until they decide to be better, things will always be bad.

The unfortunate thing is that from the presidency to the local government level, all we’ve ever had is succesionship where someone at the top decides on who becomes an office holder in a lesser position .

What’s the whole idea of the rainbow coalition? Isn’t it because everything is tailored towards favoring their God father which is Tinibu? Is that not the same way that the same Sim fubara used in becoming the governor of the state? Look at the united state of America, even while Trump remains the sitting president, his influence was not enough to dictate the outcome of yesterday’s election. That’s what true democracy is supposed to be all about. Rivers people have accepted that wike is more powerful than the will of the people and that’s why they’ve allowed him control the state while serving as a minister in another state. Something that wike will never allow another person do to him.

Exactly the point, godfatherizm is everywhere, both in the other states, local government and even in community politics, the act of godfatherizm is not bad on it's own if not that they are bent on abused of power and authority and forget their primary obligations for their selfish interests, greed is actually the major cause of the problem if not no one will even get to know what's going on behind the scene or underground, that power struggle has really left the state backwards and the citizens are the ones suffering it.
