So Bitmart is the next exchange that has been hit by hacks. They confirmed it thru the founder official X account: https://x.com/sheldonbitmart.
And it was said that it was the same group that hits Mercado Bitcoin exchanges.

If might not be as big as the Binance hack, but still, there are so much pressure on every crypto services. And with that, hacking continues and perhaps other top exchanges like Coinbase could be the next target.

Assuming that this arkham entity[1] includes all compromised addresses, it looks like the amount (based on the last two pages of transfers) is somewhere in the 150-200k $ range.

You would think though, that if users are unable to withdraw their funds unless their request is manually processed, that the funds are more secure.

As I recall, they changed their minds about shutting down the entire platform, opting instead to keep a few services running. However, I haven’t heard any further details from them since then, specifically regarding what service still remains.

They do not seem to be keeping a lot of funds in their hot wallets since they stopped most users from making withdrawals. The hackers were only able to steal shitcoins from their Arbitrum wallet that don’t have a lot of liquidity to make much profits. BitMart is still holding around $53 million according to Arkham, but these are also extremely illiquid tokens. Security might not have been a major priority for this wallet that got drained because there wasn’t much real value that was worth protecting.

With their reputation, all the conspiracy minded people might suspect that they sent those tokens to the hackers themselves to distract from their current problems. It would give them an excuse to delay withdrawals for even longer.

The withdrawal issue have lingered since July till now, the last report I saw about the issue which was published this month of november, the exchange were proposing two possible ways for customers to recover their money. The exchange is supposed to be bankrupt, the fact that they have not been able to settle customers their money till today should tell that they don't have the money, so how come they are being hacked when they should have just settle customers and move on since July till date. Now, this is just an opportunity for them not to return customers funds.

Their final schedule to shutdown was set on January next year. But idk if they really still accepting users registrations, withdrawals and deposits prior to the hack. Now that there are lots of hacks happening, they have more reasons to shutdown earlier than the set schedule, regardless if the hack if true or not.

I also just made a withdrawal of 57 USDT from Bitmart with a reduced fee of 5 USDT. It's been an hour since the transaction, the process is still at the creation stage, not yet at the processing stage. This means that my withdrawal from Bitmart is not yet possible and is still pending.
Sorry I only found out this info after making a withdrawal. If I knew I was in a situation like this, I wouldn't do it even if it was only 57 USDT.
Hopefully my withdrawal can be successful.
