Do you think freelancers and virtual assiatant should incorporate AI and AI skill is the next industry online?

Not just freelancers or virtual assistants, but everybody. AI has been integrated into almost all the fields in the world. Any employee who is not conversant with the use of AI is ready to be sacked. Employers are now aware that they need fewer employees to perform some tasks. They are now seeking people who can use these AI tools to perform their tasks faster and more cheaply.

AI forces people to adapt but I also think that just knowing how to use AI is not enough, it's only matter of time until companies releasing their full agentic AI assistant that could connect to everything. When that happens, people who know AI will also become redundant. The only way I can see, to keep ourselves from going broke or become irrelevant is by exploring other opportunities and jobs but more importantly participate in the wealth making activities like investing. I may seem too pessimistic but I really can't see any possibility where we don't get affected unless we become the capital holder.

I still doubt if there will ever be an AI that will perform all the tasks in an organization. Humans would always be needed to balance the workforce. Knowing little about AI is not bad, but with the rate at which these tools advance it will be better to keep updating your AI skills. More companies are releasing more sophisticated versions. And we have to also u[grade our knowledge to be relevant in the field.

Fundamentally, this is not a solution to the problem, but merely a postponement of the inevitable. Let’s say you master the use of AI and take the job of someone who doesn’t know how to do it. In a few years, the level of AI development will reach a stage where human involvement can be completely dispensed with. Then it will be your turn to be thrown out onto the street. I’m not denying the importance of adaptation and mastering new skills. (After all, you simply have no choice - otherwise, you’ll be out of a job.) But you need to understand that this is just a temporary respite.

Would I be wrong to still insist she lost her job to Ai, I have gone through replies and almost everything is agreeing that she lost her Job to another virtual assistant that knows how to use Ai.
Come to think of it, why will a company sack a virtual assistant using Ai as the reason only to employ another virtual assistant that they would still pay again for that same role.

Let's look at the reason for sacking people in Preference to Ai, one of the biggest reasons is rather than paying a human to do the job make use of Ai, rather than paying a graphic designer use Ai, so it's weird to sack a VA(human) to employ another VA(Human) just because this one knows how to use Ai. Many companies that hasn't moved over from human to Ai in certain roles wants that human behaviors in that role and not because you can use Ai. Or maybe this new VA is on a temporary basis to integrate Ai to the role.

I am going to say something mean:

If AI replaced your job completely, with absolutely no wiggle room, and you cannot use AI to improve your freelancer services, then your job was not a good one in the first place.

The best thing to do now is to transform your skills and learn how to use AI to improve your service in such a way that no AI could do it alone.

Otherwise it is time to begin looking for a new job.
One of the things I have discovered is that some set of people find it difficult to adapt to changes, some people already knows that they need to be very good at using AI or they need to improve their work service in a way that even AI can't totally replace them, but they will ignore to improve, if I'm to be honest those kind of people don't deserve their job because if you love your job so much, you are going to do everything possible to make sure that you improve yourself.

AI is going to continue taking away some set of people's job because they have refused to improve themselves and adapt to changes that is happening around the world.

Our country is one of the top Virtual assistant countries; we are preferred by many countries, but

Quote
Nearly four out of 10 jobs in the Philippines are “highly” exposed to artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to either displace workers or support various tasks to boost the productivity of employees, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said.

IMF sees 36% of PH jobs eased or displaced by AI

This number is very high and very alarming; our government urges local VA to brace for more displacement and take up jobs that are likely to be affected by AI, or incorporate AI into their skills, because this is the next big industry in a few years there will be more jobs that are related to AI, so learn how to handle AI or get out of the VA industry.

Adapting to the use and applications of AI is the way the world is going and it's the way forward both for those who do remote jobs and onsite jobs, because of its efficiency in handling and producing better results.
AI right now is a better assistance and should be seen more as a co-pilot rather than an enemy wanting to steal one's jobs or make that job obsolete.

I don't think AI has replaced any jobs yet - humans are still doing the replacing.  There is a human that is ordering and configuring the AI to work before firing other humans.    The closest so far is Diella, the world's first AI-generated virtual cabinet minister hired in Albania.  However, a human still needs to approve.

Yes, my thoughts exactly too; knowing how to use AI will still not be enough at some point because AI is a tech that is still in development, and if it is already posing this much threat, imagine the situation when they are now well developed and can do more things than they can do now. Humans who know how to use AI as assistants may be dropped from their roles because the AI can now do everything.

Although there are some jobs that AI will remain assistants to longer and may never be able to fully replace the humans who are in those job roles or have those skills. Some examples are plumbers, electricians, mechanics, and relationship-based businesses like marketing, etc., because to the first three I mentioned as examples, the unpredictable nature of challenges and of some environments must require human input even though AI can help with detecting the problem faster, while for relationship-based businesses, a seller-customer relationship is necessary, and it is easier to build that which a human that you know has emotions.

One of the main reason why companies and people like to work with freelancers from Philippines and other countries is the relatively cheap labour. For example, you can find someone who is willing to build a business website for you with $400 on Fiverr, Upwork, e.t.c. whereas in UK/America that would cost at least $1000. Now you can build a website using AI for free and if you want a paid version you would still spend a lot less than you’d pay for a freelancer.

Do you think freelancers and virtual assiatant should incorporate AI and AI skill is the next industry online?
This is what I have been telling people. If you own a company, you used to hire people to do the job, but now you are going to hire someone who uses AI to do the job, so you still have a job at companies that you can do, as long as you know how to use AI properly. And I do not mean just using ChatGPT or something; I mean local LLM's as well, and being able to build them or be able to use the ones that are built. So if you really want to have a job, learn how to use AI and your future is set.

White collar jobs are slowly being replaced by an AI. Not adapting it will make you irrelevant, especially in the upcoming years. We are seeing a lot of layoffs partly due to AI handling those jobs. So learning how to use it is not considered as an advantage now, it is a skill that you need if you want to be hired.

This is the reality now.
I have a graphic design sister, but with AI all forms of design are easy to generate. But he combined his designer skills with the help of AI, so in addition to saving time, he also managed to improve his ability to visualize abstract ideas into a design. That's just a small example but broadly speaking, the skills we have will not be completely replaced by AI, if we are able to adapt and use them to expand our capabilities.

So many learning platforms understand that AI is the next big industry, so they offer courses about AI. There are dedicated applications and platforms for learning AI, so if you want to continue as a virtual assistant or a content creator, you have to spend time and money to learn AI.

Not just any AI, but specific AI knowledge that suits what you need in your skill; in the next few years, for everything we do online, we will need the assistance of AI. AI's are not here to degrade us but to upgrade us.

Ai cannot completely replace humans, humans are still very much needed in all fields but to remain relevant wherever you are, you must evolve as the world does too. I think everybody in every field  should learn how to use Ai respectively, if you can’t afford the full courses then learn the basics.
