In some countries, community and events, gambling is been used to entertain the people present and that shows that gambling is for everyone and a means of entertainment too. In my church during our harvest, we do gamble and we call it try your luck. You stake to play a game and if you're the winner, you will be given the amount of money as agreed before you played the game.

Just because you have the chance to win something doesn't mean that gambling is to make profits and that's where the poor sees it as an opportunity to exploit the casino unknown to them that, it's the casino that will take the little they have. Everywhere you go here in my country 55% of youths are gamblers not for entertainment but for profit.

I have no idea about our area since a bigger part of the population is poor but gambling revenue is very high, but just to answer your question and prove that gambling is not really a trap for the poor. I searched and found that there are also betting shops in wealthy areas. One example is Mayfair in London, which is known as one of the wealthiest neighborhoods there and they have this Star Sports betting shop.

Betting shops can be located in any corner of the country, both in poor and affluent neighborhoods. I once lived in a highbrow area, and there was a casino close to me. During weekends, the environment is filled with expensive cars whose owners are gamblers.  The difference is that the number of bet shops is higher in poor surroundings like slums and ghettos. The reason is that most people see gambling as an alternative source of income and a means to get rich.

Gambling is for everyone, but the poor in particular made themselves a target. As much as those in the gambling business are benefiting from the poor who are consistently gambling to make money from gambling, the gambling platforms will utilise every means available to get what they want from them.

The business can still survive without the poor gamblers. So, if these gamblers realise anything else, they should know that the casinos are not doing them a favour by introducing gambling to them, the casinos are only exploiting them and taking the little they have from them.

Gambling is not supposed to be pursued aggressively like a source of income, it is supposed to be for entertainment. That is the difference between the rich gamblers and the poor gamblers.

Gambling isn't designed for the poor people alone, it is designed for both the rich and poor but fact remains that poor people gamble more than the rich.

And the reason why we don't see betting shops in a rich neighborhood is because rich people are well exposed than the poor, a rich man prefers to gamble online from the comfort of his home, this is more convenient for him than having to go sit/stand in a physical/open space all in the name of gambling, something a poor man ordinarily don't mind doing.
And another fact being that gambling online requires internet which cost money, and a rich man has access to this while most poor people do not have access to internet, so while the rich man is gambling online, the poor man have to rely on physical casinos.

This is just a few reasons i can think of for now, i believe there are more.

Everyone has the way they see it but the truth remains that is a normal activity that anyone can do regardless of financial worth.

Don't think that rich gambler's don't get addicted or act in a way that looks irresponsible to the general eyes, since because you feel that they have the finances to cover up for their losses doesn't make the loses or it impacts to go away just like that, I have seen in my country a story that made major headlines about a rich man that gamble away with his car and that if his wife car, he was about to stake the house they leave in before help reached him, this guy is known for uncontrollable gambling for many years before the last incident that triggered the family to take actions.

Gambling was never meant just for the poor, gambling is for everyone and everyone gambles. We are only talking of betting shops, even if betting shops are located mostly where the poor are, what of the online betting sites, who then gamble there?
The rich gamble, it just that most times the reason why everyone gambles might be different, the profit is the most reason why a lot of people do and there are still some people who gamble just for the fun, they don’t mind if they are winning or losing. We can actually say that yes, the poor most times gamble irresponsibly, all because most of them turn gambling as a source of income.

You must be mistaken here because the rich are the one's who gamble the most.
Not only they gamble more but also bet more, in the sense they place high value bets.
The poor do gamble but they gamble because they want to get rich whereas the rich are already rich and gamble for entertainment.
There are some rich people who want to get even more rich and that's also one reason for them to gamble more.
For the poor though, they eventually end up losing more money over time due to their limited gambling budget.

In a word, casinos or gambling are made for people of all classes. But which class of person will gamble or place bets and how is entirely their decision. Casinos are not created solely as targets for the poor. I have seen many wealthy individuals in my area become addicted to gambling because they had a desire to earn money. In my opinion, poorer individuals enjoy gambling more and spend less money than wealthy individuals.

The eternal truth is that, the poor wish to change their financial situation. But after losing money through gambling, they are forced to come back. So it is not reasonable to make such assumptions about the poor.

Basically, the world of gambling involves various groups and also various backgrounds of people, gambling will attract all elements, no matter those who have a lower economic background or a limited economy.

The world of gambling does not only attract the poor, rich people also gamble more than poor people, it's just that rich people are not visible in public, they gamble behind closed doors, What's more, now that there are many online gambling sites, they prefer to gamble in their private offices rather than gambling openly.

It's not designed to exploit the poor, it's the poor who are trying to make fantasies that they can make a living from gambling or change their lives because of gambling. It's the poor mindset they have because they don't factor in the house edge that's why they lose. That's why the majority of gamblers are poor, but the biggest money going into gambling is not coming from the poor but from the rich and those in the middle class.

I don't think gambling can be called something that's only for poor people. Wealthy people gamble in casinos too, and sometimes they lose amounts of money that would equal several years' salaries for an average person.
In my opinion, the main difference between rich and poor gamblers isn't their attitude toward gambling, but the consequences of losing money. But the less spare money someone has, the more serious the consequences can be, even from a relatively small loss.

Sorry say, this topic is actually very common here and is like a regular post.
To be honest gambling is for everyone and not for the poor alone, the main reason why gambling seems to be for the poor is because they so much put their interests in gambling winning because whenever they have no alternative means of income they often put their mind and thinking toward gambling winning without them knowing they could be a major target of interest. Of course the poor are always impatient and whenever they gambles they feels all their bet would results as winning without knowing that the game doesn’t respect any one choice or feelings. In gambling, when you make forecast correctly you see your results coming out as planned, but when things doesn’t go as analyzed you would always see them becoming so pained and disappointed because there was no winning recorded.

For poor people gambling may look like a means to change their lives overnight, most especially when they’re struggle financially.

I dont think so, because in this case gambling is a game for those who do want to gamble regardless of poor or rich it is not a benchmark it's just that in words it may refer to the majority of those who are poor are always more interested in gambling than those who are rich.
Although there is still no clear data on this but when the difference between poor and rich and linked to gambling then the majority of those who have the economy in the middle class or bahah who are more in gambling.

The reason you gave is one of the main ones, but I think a higher concentration of betting shops in such neighborhoods also has something to do with reducing the overall cost for the business in question.

Yeah, gambling will make you a millionaire if you are a billionaire, lol.

If a casino is available in a wealthy neighbourhood, then rich people will easily access it and enjoy their gambling. But how long they could remain rich? Until they bite the dust? Then how long that place would remain as a place for wealthy alone?

Gambling must be one the mass destruction weapon and if you do not learn to stop or keeping it at control then you will ruin your wealth and life slowly.

We may argue that gambling is for entertainment but it will remain as an entertainment until you control yourself and if you go chasing your emotions then gambling will make fun out of you.

How you gamble (with control or not) will decide your fate.
