Don't mix up input wattage with output wattage. Input wattage times efficiency equals output wattage. 996w is the max output wattage. 1040 is the input wattage. 1040 * 89% = 926w, or 1040 * 94% = 978w. It's definitely near the limit, but still under the max.
It would be good to replace the power supply. Bitmaintech should offer the S2 without power supply.
Ah, thanks man! I updated the OP with your equation, and crossed out mine. You're right, it's still a good idea to swap out the power supply.

My experience with asking a BTC miner manufacturer to offer a credit for power supply delete is most always not even close to the cost of local or internet replacement power supply purchase.
You be better off keeping the Enermax 1000w and using it on you S1 farm if you have one, selling it or keeping it as a backup and straight up investing in a new 1200-1500W PS.
Solid advice
What are you talking about? Rather then posting something off topic, consider contributing like the rest of everyone else next time. Indeed my equation was wrong, but the rest of the math was solid. Which I asked about
"Guys, if I ran my math all correctly" then we'd have to upgrade our PSUs. Which turns out, is a good idea to do that anyway regardless of my efficiency error.
