If you shortsell now you will very likely have your money taken away from you.

It seems that big exchanges are happening now masked as many small transactions
in order to make it look like a run on this good price.

But you will feel like a complete fool once you have seen how long this rally continues
orchestrated by some group or individuals with a much larger bankaccount then you.

And they will continue the rally - carefull not to bubble it too soon so you can still buy
now while it actually is cheep.

The fact that they picked New Year for this big rise was very wise.
Everyone is emotional now so they can take a big jump without fear of bubble.

My best guess is in the next days the rally will continue - but at a much slower pace.

Happy new year on the bitcoin friends

And be warned not to go short now or loose additional profits you can reap later.

don't let me make you question your assumptions

And if I sell instead of short-selling, will still someone take my money? Huh Roll Eyes

Nice crystal ball. I'll stick to a mixed strategy though, we've had "Bitcoin will rise forevaaa" before. Wink

@Bitcoinica they will take your USD and give them to the shorts to cover!  don't bother trying to get them out!

Why do you guys bother with bitcoinica again?

I like to buy high, sell low, and bitcoinica lets me do that with its huge spread.
I like to get fucked no matter if I'm right or wrong, and bitcoinica lets me do that with its inadequate float.
I like to get screwed over 10 times as hard, and bitcoinica lets me do that with margin.
I like to lend my money to other people so that they can cover their shorts, and then not have any left over for myself to trade.

The quantum exchange... I bought or sold, but I don't know which until I close my position.

Ha ha! This is a very good joke. It may be the most succinct way to describe a modern bucket shop.

To see when the bull winks his eye.

Bitcoinica keeps giving me the * when trying to buy... sure sign of a bull market.

****************************************************************************************

When the bull's eye winks:
If MtGox is climbing, hold long
If MtGox has stalled of falling, squeeze is available
When the bear's eye winks:
If MtGox is falling, hold short
If MtGox has stalled or climbing, squeeze is available

I closed my long and posted that right before the drop.

to make a $100 profit off $20 initial investment over a month's time.  Doesn't sound like much, but it's groceries.

You made me lol..

I have a better theory that actually made me some coins.

Startig at the end of november the christmas spirit came over the community.
Psychological bottom was hit around $2, lots of positive speak on the forum and people generally going from bear to bull.
Some folks with lots of coins thought "let's give the community a christmas gift and a happy newyear by driving the price up a bit".

As you propably realise by now, both christmas and newyear are behind us and so is the gift.
It was bound to come falling down in the first couple of days of this year.

To me it felt almost as an inside joke supported by the community.

I just was short on bitcoinica and have earned 1000$  Smiley. But I won't risk once again to make it now...

Turns out this was a good sell signal.  Thanks.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.
