but w all know that this industry want Ƀ so they can get their 15 minutes of fame.
Read further down the website of the 'industry group', and you'll learn that this 'industry group' is merely a single design house in France.

I agree, I like the original better ( BTC), and adopting an existing character with other possible meanings seems like a quick fix to me. After looking through the process to submit a new unicode character, I would think this would be a great project for the Bitcoin Foundation or similar... http://www.unicode.org/pending/proposals.html

It's a good way to gain additional traction, but I personally don't think it looks as "elegant" as it could be.
[I mean after all, unicode supports some pretty complex characters from other languages. Not that I'm saying to make it complex.]

Yeah, how about we let some randoms come in and demand to change a widely recognized symbol.
No way... if you're an early adapter, make your voice heard.
The new symbol isn't likable. If it has to be unicode, then we need a better one.

As much as this may make some here roll their eyes, the whole "inverted cross" thing is going to be milked beyond belief, if this symbol is adopted.
Trust me. And you're looking at hundreds of millions of people. While you may consider them idiots, they are still an issue.
Put the line at the top like one guy joked on Page 1, and you may end up with a completely opposite response (good) from hundreds of millions of faith.
They will spin it as Bitcoin being sent from above to provide help to the masses, and ruin the power of the corrupt.
Trust me. I know how this demographic thinks. Was part of it once.
But the proposed one will only cause extreme drama from huge groups of people.

NEW symbol is nice, but shouldn't be a concern. Once we get mass adoption down, THEN we should worry about a new symbol.
You mean like everybody first bought apple stuff and only then they created the brand? Joe

That B looks like it has oral herpes. Simply repulsive. Do we really want people to be repelled by bitcoin?

Question is WHO is promoting this and for what reasons. From a symbologistic perspective it does not look healthy or positive in any way, but like a B stabbed in the back. The currently dominating symbol with the two rays on the bottom and two on top looks much more balanced and 'healthy' - a bit like those images of space-alines on ancient rock carvings…
