I just asked the official China Merchants Bank about this issue via the same method, and they told me that they don't know whether it's true or false.

I just contacted btcchina.com online support, and they refuse to say whether 工行、建行、中行 accounts got closed.

So I doubt the credibility of that "screenshot".

But, who knows the truth?

fonzie may be a fringe nut and an outlier, but the trend is clear: PBOC does NOT like BTC and will continue to undermine and eventually shutdown bitcoins in China. The writing is on the wall.

Please confirm source of chat log. It could easily be faked. To which bank did you ask these questions? Who asked the questions? We need more information.

Edit: after reading the reddit subsection, it seems like this isn't "real". This is what would happen in theory, but even the banks don't .. know? Please confirm

Another rock solid source.  Roll Eyes

If you want to understand why the Chinese government is spooked by bitcoin you will need to read up on QQ and Qcoin. That is their paradigm, just as the liberty dollar is what bitcoin means to US regulators.

Q coin was a private virtual currency that took off in China. Before anyone noticed it had grown to be a threat to the economy. At least the PBOC thought so.

Fonzie, I know you want BTC to crash. I wish it would too. But I can't rely on "images" or "chat logs" to make a good investment decision.

Show me the Weibo comment. Link me to it. I don't care about an image, easily faked by Chrome developer tools or Firebug. Show me the entire chat log, from start to finish.

Another guy here said he tested the same method on the same bank and failed to retrieve the same info.

BTW, Yes, I do believe bank accounts will be closed. But this is just fud
