I get free electricity, (legally). I was wondering what equipment I should use to mine since I don't have to worry about electricity costs eating up all of my profit. What equipment would be the best if I don't have to worry about efficiency, and I simply want the fastest mining for the cheapest price?

You will want to find the product with the highest GH/s per $, and ignore the GH/s per W figure. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#ASIC

Also, there is no such thing as free electricity. What you mean to say is, electricity that someone else is paying for.

You also need to figure out your capacity as well in terms of amps. A free 10A circuit will only get you so far...  That being said, look at getting an Antminer S1's or Antminer S2's when they are available again.

Not necessarily so, I "pay" for electricity because its rolled into the cost of my fixed monthly rent.

If you are a small miner I dont think btc asic mining is best.   If you dont pay elec then buy a nice gpu and mine scrypt based coins like litecoin, that way you can use it instead of a doorstep asic will be in 12 months (even on free elec)

i.e. cube erupter or other old avalons

just how cheap are those.   Im doubting they'd be near free I'd want them to be; presuming they are unprofitable with elec bills that seems reasonable but I expect theres a healthy market from people with solar or similar?

Well, your landlord would go crazy if the bills comes out like $5000 right?

I was asking myself the same thing. Isn't there some kind of AUP/FUP in your contract? I cannot imagine your landlord receiving a bill 10*your monthly rent would consider it as normal usage, and pay for it.

I can't imagine that would go over well, put electricity cost back in as an expense. You might even consider talking with your land-lord to give him a head's up that there could be a major increase in usage.

Even if you have "free" electricity, you still need to endure the heat and noise lol.  Smiley

price per gh/s would be the Yellowjacket USB devices. I got one for $40AU and it gets 2.6gh/s all day long. run them up in a line and cool them and you have some very low cost/mh/s rig.

That's a horrible price! 10x of those gets you 26 GH/s for $400. 1x Antminer S1 gets you 180 GH/s for about the same price. 26 GH/s vs 180 GH/s.

You probably have a tiny electric panel. Every 2400 watts uses 20amps on 120 line. You are going to need lots of AC and noise is going to be loud. just start with a couple ant S1's and go from there

Be prepared though for when the landlord comes into your apartment and
sees your "electricity sucking" mining operation. Here in the USA you might
get a visit by the Police to see if you are running a marijuana grow operation.

While you pay for "some" electricity, if your use quadruples, somebody will
notice eventually. Multiple S1's running 24/7 will get you there right quick.

Ant S1 much be the best choice, less power consume, less noise less heat, lower price, easy setup, cheaper power supply, highlycommended
