Just some advice: you are better off redirecting your anger to the original guy who perpetrated the scam.

Anyways,  good luck with you effort.   Smiley

Hey fellow bag holders. I am giving you this GREAT one time Deal. .1 BTC for 1 million AC. I mean 1 million AC is only 10 BTC at 1000 satoshis.

Why dont you go repair every broken crypto then? Why only repair the ones you have self invested in? Thats not selfless. thats saving your own ass. lol

Uh.. most of the coins i worked on i had not invested in.. thats how I got into this stuff.  Read forums, saw a sad thread and jumped into it.  Is there some incentive for me to fix this one, yeah.

But like i said many times I'm fine not fixing it as well.... I wasn't planning to.

But at this point, given the information that has come to light.  It would just be a shame not fix it.. because the patch is so easy.

You are doing great work there. You are real hero! Keet i going, nobody can top you and community restore and fix this coin anymore!
There is so mutch trolling on this tread that we are doing something right. Cheesy

Was I trolling when I begged people to dump AsiaCoin for 10 hours before the exchanges shut it off?  Grin

You're using the wrong rhetoric for this thread. Nobody is hating on 'AsiaCoin Revival' or whatever you're calling it. We're still working on AsiaCoin V1.0 - The Scam That Went Blam.

You don't have 'haters' because your coin doesn't exist. The haters will come after you rob a bunch of hapless newbies.

You don't have 'haters' because your coin doesn't exist. The haters will come after you rob a bunch of hapless newbies.

Just to be technically correct here:

The coin does still exist, the network is still UP as we speak.. I'm watching it process blocks every minute on my debug console.  You can still move coins around , everything still working.  Just exchanges have dropped support for it (for now).

Everything about the coin is still fully functional.  The elephant in the room is a hidden premine wallet address with 3.2 B coins.

Thus if that is effectively eliminated via a patch, there is no reason why everything shouldn't be the same on a technical level.

This is why almost all exchanges have agreed to reopen, if patched.

The thing that is NOT the same is the confidence, for sure due to the scam revelation confidence is extremely low at this point.  But that's a maketing/perception problem.

You may say that all cryptocurrencies are 100% perception... but I'd wager that's not the case.. absolutely a lot of it is perception.. (which various folks are trying to change).  But there's still intrinsic value of the network... it might not be worth a lot.  But its worth something.

just my 2 cents.

And this is exactly why the government wants to outlaw crypto's. There is no office to check and control, no-one to prevent scams. It's anonymous and open source /open market.
Yes it really sucks that we all got stuck holding our respectable privates. But honestly we all knew the risks.

And unless you have irrefutable evidence that this one person is responsible. ( so no links on video's/ no email or facebook linked to that) But real evidence, like maybe ask Github who created the account where the original sourcecode was uploaded and then follow up on that information with the authority's, who could then find tangible evidence at his home...... then you have no right posting a picture of someone saying he's guilty. Depending on what country your from your not even allowed to make this information public even if found guilty.... This person could actually sue, bitcointalk for that. And if he would succeed or not..... media attention like that would be even worse for the crypto cummunity.

Time to get up, dust off and move on. It's great that the community is regrouping for a fix. If it will work or not, if its another scam who knows... YOU decide how you spend your money, YOU decide how to invest your cypto's. This is true for every occation. Im very sorry for everyone who lost money, including myself.. But this is the crypto world we live in. We live to buy another day. In my opinion.... the only things we really can do...

Its just like using the Gold Standard , if not alot easier. Scammers exist everywhere. Someone is getting scammed right now, out of their Federal Reserve Notes. Scamming is inevitable. People need to be pay more attention to detail, especailly if you know how to code. How many cryptos have been a scam that relate to a country/region/continent? ALL.

Its because the og dev got everyone hooked on the 0% premine, ill even admit it myself. That is what drew me into AC.

You guys are almost completely inaccurate when you post.

Nobody said Urban is guilty of anything. Of course we have the right to post links to his public Facebook. No, BitCoinTalk is not getting sued for it.

Next, for micyron, you're confusing me. So you're going to re-establish the current BlockChain (which is still being used) and RE-BRAND the coin for marketing purposes?

These ideas are so rushed and poorly thought out.

Have any of you even taken the time to contact the original services that are STILL RUNNING to let them know what happened?

People are still buying this useless coin on an exchange and you're arguing with ME? People are still MINING this coin, creating blocks on a Blockchain that's going to be wiped out.

This could be the worst community I've ever witnessed in my life. Let someone know they're wasting their money AT LEAST. I understand you're all too lazy to contact anyone to find the culprit who scammed, but at least have a little compassion for the little guy who is still losing money on this.

BTW, are you all going to support EuropeCoin today? That's the newest Continent Coin.

Disregard what exchanges tell you. They are in it for the money. Why are exchanges all of a sudden the final statement whether something is feasible or not. Exchanges want as many coins on their list = more exchange fees.

Can any body tell me how much money this Asiacoin dev mad with this scam?

between 350 and 400 BTC

A successfull one
lol more than WC ?

Of course, why? you do have some info i dont have?
So sum of:
51% attack
sold premine
7days of manipulation game (no new wallet eg. 1st wallet in beta testing never was 2nd Dev was fired after sharing that info in public (while PR guys was writing we are in beta testing Cheesy )

I was wonder if sum of those scam factors costed more than 400BTC. Comparable to AC.

You shouldn t think so hard. There was 0,78% of premine. At 1500sat on average, it is 350BTC.

1500 is a very optimistic price to sell on average.
I don t say that WC hasn t been a successfull scam, but it sure was less than AC.

300 000 000 x 0,0078 x 0,000015 = 35,1BTC

oops looks like i didn t think hard enough. my bad

mycrion,

I appreciate what you are doing but you should let them say whatever they want. Nobody cares about what they think.
They may be right, they may be wrong, we will know soon enough.

What is sure at the moment is that the comunity is better without both of them and that there is much work before the coin could be reenlisted.

You mis understand my proposed patch:

With this patch , everything on the blockchain that is NOT the current left over premine amount will be 100% preserved.  Everything that anyone is doing, the coins they buy, the ones they are mining.  Will still exist when the patch is launched.  Anything anyone is doing even this moment (other than the scammer) will be fine.

If it goes as planned, the patch retains the current blockchain and wallet.dat.  The only thing it will do is make it impossible for the 3.2 left over premine to be used in any kind of meaningful way.

People are reaching out to existing services to let them know of the plan, the main ones have been told already.  TBH that's not my responsibility.. I proposed a technical solution and am implementing it.. because it's a fun coding challenge.

But the community must drive the comms/marketing aspect of this..

The rebranding is not strictly necessary.. it .. for all intent and purposes will still be asiacoin... but i think a logo change and a new marketing push is in order anyhow.. that's just my recommendation though.

Hey everyone, just to keep you all informed because I see it's now leaked into the AsiaCoin thread.... heh....

So I've received numerous requests from the AsiaCoin community for help and support from myself and the whitecoin foundation. Naturally, I told them I have my hands a bit full right now. However, throughout the conversation an idea did get floated:

Concept: WhiteCoin was saved and revived because of a community rallying that went outside its own community and into the world at large of crypto. In many ways, we owe a debt to our larger community. But we also owe existing debts to the individuals who helped us save WhiteCoin.

Proposed compromised: I suggested, that if a bounty were gathered by the AsiaCoin community and donated to the WhiteCoin Foundation (specifically to pay our team for work done to date), that it would then be something worth considering in WhiteCoin's best interest.

To make things clear: This is only a proposal. I'd like everyone's opinion on this.

And to be very specific, I would not be taking the lead of AsiaCoin. I would offer them my knowledge and instruction on how to organize as we have, in exchange for a donation to our community. This in the end would not take much of my time at all, because I'd be taking from existing material to help teach them:

- How to properly rally a community
- The different between begin a leader and a pr rep
- Instruction on how to operate a team with a democratic consensus based approach
- Instruction on how to independently verify the work of strangers you don't know over the internet Smiley

To make clear again, if we did this, I would not be taking on a leadership role in AsiaCoin.

I look forward to your thoughts, and thanks very much.

Chris

I say go for it. Its win-win if we help them survive. First of all if they donate to the WC fund, that's great you guys deserve much compensation for your work so far. And if you successfully save asiacoin I can guarantee whitecoin would see a boost of support from the AC community. They would invest in WC and they would be a part of our community just like we would be a part of theirs.

Strength in numbers. Its tough in the crypto world, you need all the allies you can get.
