Are you sure that it's the shop that has set that up themselves? Maybe you're donating to some random dude who just taped his address to the window.

AKA the OP.

Haha, that hadn't actually flown through my mind. You might be right. It's awful to distrust everyone but in these times you have to.

What country is this?  I was looking at the reflection of the glass and the neighborhood seems interesting.  England?

Next Time I walk by I'll go into the shop and try to take a photo of the thing from the inside... as the sign is inside the shop.

The name of the charity shop is "Last Chance Animal Rescue"  It's located in Bromley, London, UK.

You think I went into the shop.. closed the door... taped a sign to the window  from the inside.. hoping no staff would notice and then do the same thing again next week..?

How hard could it be to do, really?
I'm not saying I think you did, but how can you prove that you didn't. :/

i have the most skeptical mind of all. i have ripped apart many scammers and i will keep doing so.

but this sign is genuine. its not a sign put up for 20 seconds just for the sake of taking a picture, as i have also seen this sign before.

with that said, keep this in mind.

the volunteers/manager put this up, but who is to say that those working inside give 100% to the actual cause and its not used purely to pay the manager a wage/give them a bonus.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Well I think readers here should just take this as what it is: A local charity shop posts a bitcoin address in their window - they are not asking *you* to donate, but they offer their visitors an option.
In my opinion, that's simply great. Donating to charities is one of the things where bitcoins works pretty well. Of course you need to check wether they actually do what they claim to do and what you want to support, and whether your donations are being spent responsibly. But that's not different from fiat money donations.

They should put it on http://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.co.uk/donate.html too.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

It wouldn't be very smart to just send money to the address on the window. If you really about to donate you should meet the owner of the shop so he can prove that it's really donation to his shop. If you're going to donate like only $2 in bitcoins and you just send those few bitcents then you can do it blindly without knowing where those bitcoins will really go  Grin

Do they accept payment in Bitcoin for items or is it just a donation address? Cool to see either way.
