Hey! The banned man is back  Grin
Ahh! It's back!
Everyone say "hello and welcome" back to new and improved version of Wolfey2014! Wink
Thank you!  Grin

I'm getting ready to modify 20 more pods. I'm going to use the latest and best 'innovations' on these babies and I'll be posting some pics and results. Look for it in the next few weeks. I have to receive them from Hashra first Wink
I love the new prices and they may go even lower but I know I can make ROI in a timely manner anyway - most likely based on recent market trends.

My miners are still going strong after several weeks of straight 24/7 mining with ZERO drop outs. They are also on back of a UPS which also conditions the incoming power. Cleanest power you'll ever see on an oscilloscope!
I'm still using cpuminer and will continue to do so now that I've learned how to set up and use scripts - thanks to USAO - to run those buggers. No starting one screen at a time anymore for me! Getting too many! Wink

I am also going to take a shot at modifying a blade. I am sure if the seeds can be safely overclocked, so can the blades.
Only stands to reason. Eh?

If any noobs or seasoned vets' need any assistance, advice or help, feel free to contact me via PM.
Let me know.
I'm here to help and share the mining game with you all.

And, a belated Happy Valentines Day to you!

Wolfey

can anyone actually confirm the value of the resistor removed for the mod?  Ive been looking at the schematic  and according to the schematic its a 127k resistor, but the bill of Materials has it as 33k?  also it isnt R52, in fact it R139 for anyone who is interested.

Guys...don't be fooled...

You are replacing R139...27k with higher value...47k to 51k... NOT R52...

R52 is in the Feedback Loop of the Voltage regulator...

Refer to the schematics...

I told them this...10 days ago...

Let me share this...:

From unpublished PM reply to Wolfey2014 from April 1 2014...(never sent to him...after looking at his "claims" to others people results and annoying adds all over the place)...:

DVDD+ adjustment -

1. First - cut the small bridge in place of R46...it is a trace on the main board...connecting to last pads to the left of VID0/1 resistors row (R63, R64, R66, R139 and non existing capacitors in between ) ...
2. Second - solder a resistor to these ( now separate ) pads with value = to desired value in the VID chain - 27K (R139) ...these resistors are in series...Rmod + R139 = Rtotal...

So... Rmod = Rtotal - 27K (R139) ...
Example...:
For Rtotal = 47K ...Rmod = 47K - 27K = 20K ...solder 20K in place of the R46 (bridge)
For Rtotal = 49K ...Rmod = 49K - 27K = 22K ...Solder 22K ...very standard value on the top of R46 pads...
etc...

From now on I will call this

"ZiG mod"

...because I don't mind sharing ...but don't want anybody like Wolfey2014 to claim that it is his/her... Wink

I have been experimenting with this since the beginning days of this thread...soldering the trim pot of 50K to R46 pads...this way the voltage to the chips can be adjusted smooth in 10-20mV small steps to check the hash rates...

Another advantage is that you DON"T NEED to remove ANY of the original components from the Gridseed...no de-soldering of R139 ...

And one more advantage is ...you CAN REVERSE the voltage mod to the ORIGINAL by simply removing the Rmod from R46 pads + restoring the bridge R46= 0 Ohm...or even simpler...making short on Rmod/R46...

Hope it is bringing more light ...and understanding of what Exactly are we all doing...Modding VID reference on the Voltage regulator chip of Gridseeds...That's it...!

Thanks for reading this...and ...Good luck modding...!

ZiG

Edit...:   Some body was exploring the idea of external small switch ( Like DIP switch to be able to go in "MOD/Overclocked" to "Normal/Stock" speed ...I have that switch soldered at the ends of my trim pod ...and it is doing exactly that...MODE SW "OC/Turbo - Stock/Normal"... using the short of R46...or trim pot value...

Enjoy...

Pea Ess,, I see that Zig has chosen to backstab like a punk, and make false accusations (backed up with Vapor PM evidence even  Roll Eyes ) and try to black PR me to others - all behind my back of course -...
Even if there is any such PM, he has completely misduplicated it. Who do you think you are, PIG?
Well, there is not one shred of truth to what it states!
I never claimed anyone's work to be my own. That is complete dub in and someone went wild with that false rumor' Zig... and is spread it maliciously trying to discredit me.
It is clear to anyone with neurons what his agenda behind these kinds of attacks is. COMPETITION!
My only claims have only always been of my own discovery or creation.
I acknowledged the originators of the mod when I copied and applied it to my own pods which is what I first talked about and posted pictures of.
Where I say "my mod" it refers specifically to my discovery of the 49.9k value and the use of a simple, readily available 1/4Watt Axial resistor. This IS my mod!
Everyone else, just about, was using SMD's.
I also referred to my mods as the mods I physically did for myself and others. Those ARE my mods, duh! Wink
As for which resistors or caps to change, in the beginning, I never ever claimed them to be mine in any way shape or form!
This is the truth!
Zig will probably keep on nattering about me for a while. It only shows, he's done things he shouldn't have and has to find ways (even made up ones) to be right about it. Wink

I am a veteran senior technician and I know what I am doing. I am not perfect. I still make mistakes like everyone else, even stupid ones!  Cheesy

Wolfey2014

Oh, and I still don't agree with going pasty pasty on the seeds. Mine use the original pads and have presented absolutely no signs that they pads don't work or are interfering with the processors causing HW errors.
I believe if there is an interference problem with the chips, it's a capacitive issue between the top cover plate, the ground planes on the pcb and a bit of emi too. It's not a fiber issue.
Making the changes may help the heat sink issue with all chips not being properly heat sinked otherwise, but increasing or decreasing the gap between the pcb and top heat sink's plate changes this capacitance and the HW errors either lessen, go away or get worse.
That's what I'd look into first if my pods were having that problem.
And I solved the uneven heat sink issue by torquing the screws evenly snug.

How stupid do you think I am, Zig?
You're still trying to be right.
Get the correct view point, kid!

You owe me a retraction and an apology for lying about me!

Do that, and we can make nice and be friends...if you want.
Or keep trying to be right about it. I really don't care!

One last thing. This stuff is OFF TOPIC and should not be taken up on these threads.
The correct thing to do is, if you have something personal to say to me or about me, be a grownup and PM me. That is what someone who "likes me" - a 'friend', would do.

Personally I don't care to be liked or admired. I simply do the best I can in life, and come what may.
I am constantly striving to improve and learn from my mistakes.

Dear Moderator Skolivas,

I am NOT advertising ANYTHING on this ...or any other thread...just opposite...will hire a competent enough person to do my own mods...read my last post, please.

If I have anything to advertise...I know exactly where is a "Services" and/or "Marketplace" sections in this Forum.

Thank you for your remarks.

Regards,

ZiG
