Does the two week time period starts at the day same day for everyone or does it depends on the day you become active on the forum??? This activity math is driving me nuts. I have absolutely no idea when will I reach next status. :/

It starts on the same day for everyone. Next period starts next Tuesday and you can get another 14 points then.

You have to make sure you post the once in each two week period to get the full activity points. If your post count is 14 or more higher than your activity then you'll get the full 14 points just for the one post, otherwise it'll move up per post (up to 14). You can collect the full activity points at a later date though as long as you have posted once in thosr two week periods. Read through this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=495948.0w hats the maximum activity one can get in 14 days period..??can some one get 14+ activity in 24 hours??

In principle you can take an account with 35 posts and 35 activity, posts 445 times within 24 hours and become Hero Member provided the initial 35 posts were made one at a time in every 2 week interval. You will get banned but that is a different issue.

You could create an account and make one post in 35 activity periods and that would give you 35 activity but if you then made 455 posts in whatever time frame you would then go from being a Jnr Member to becoming a Hero as soon as you had a minimum of 480 posts so you could rank up in one day if you were able to make that many constructive posts (though that would be unwise or unlikely like peligro mentioned). can some one get 14+ activity in 24 hours?? You could get 28 if you created an account and made a post early tomorrow before the activity period starts then another onw after the new period.

Hi, I hope I'm not too late. Basically, the idea is that if you post once in every two week cycle, you are considered "active" for that two week cycle. Your activity is then calculated by either 14 times the number of cycles you have been active in, or your total posts, whichever is lesser. EG: I am active in 10 cycles and have 50 posts. So, my activity is the lesser of (14*10) = 140 and 50. So I have 50 activity. Since the post count is the lower of the two, I can gain 90 activity if I make 90 posts in a row. But, if on the very same day, I make a hundred posts, I will still have 10 active cycles (140 max activity) but 150 posts. So my activity will be 140. Generally, most people have more posts than activity, and every cycle posted in adds another 14 activity.

No longer active on bitcointalk, however, you can still reach me via PMs if needed.

i found this topic interesting as allow to know when our rank may be updated to a new one,and is very clear that we earn 14 activity points every 14 days ,as the posts we make ,but doenst need to be 200 or 400 posts since the max activity on every 2 weeks will always be 14 soo im near the next rank xD thanks for such precious information

I still do not really understand how activity is calculated. Is it one point for every day that you post? I only see the formula that you posted in your OP, and don't really understand it.

all i got is you earn 14 points every 14 days as active you are soo your activity will raise every 14 days r... soo this way you can post 200 times as 600 time that your rank will be the same way, since all can earn max 14 activity points every 2 weeks about the minimus posts daily needed to get those points i dont know soo maybe someone can say it .

In simpler terms, maybe...
Group all of your posts in two week blocks Count up those groups Multiply that number by 14 If your post count is larger than that number it becomes your activity. If the number is larger than your post count, post count becomes your activity.
However, in general you should just ignore your activity because the only time it matters is to make you standout from a lookalike username that may be scamming, which should happen naturally or to meet a quota for signature spamming (coincidentally the "confused" users here are participating in signature campaigns)

There are a few other benefits, like reduced time between pms and posting. Those can be useful. But you're right that once you get out of the very junior levels it doesn't matter very much.

It helps to showcase whether someone is a spammer or actually an active user, as well as help eliminate spambots. (Another signature participant asking about activity levels )

its really shocking that total time logged in has no role to play in activity.. i think this forum should have time creteria also.. it will keep away people who cultivate and sell multiple account.

It won't. People would just use bots to 'browse' the forum to rack it up instead. People who cultivate/farm accounts will already spend a lot of time on them any way.
