Guess i should not reveal a secret of many who stay logged in 24/7
Even when on vacation or sleeping !
lol
Write a script to refresh the page, or there are plugins that do so automatically i think for most popular browsers
Still no matter what 'grade' the forum has you noted as ,
Most want to get to higher levels to participate in the signatures that pay btc , however,
some others have told me if you sign up for these and break the rules you can get suspended !!! lol or knocked down
I am not in any formal sig. lock in .......my signature is my own.....(but several have told me these facts are true)
Nothing wrong with the forum using this for advertising, the forum must maintain itself and needs some revenue to pay the costs of keeping it going.
Also i used to think that hero members (when that was as high as it went) were 'automatically' experienced people with tech/btc/ everything.
Turns out not so , some casual visitors are at these levels and are not necessarly tech experts at anything (nothing wrong with that).
Also since some people 'sell' their sr and hero accounts, no guarantee the person posting now is 100% the same person who opened the account.
Actually i find only by reading what someone actually posts and perhaps multiple posts of theirs can you guage who /what level of knowledge/ ect..
you are dealing with.
Great example: the lead developer of Blake Coin is one of the most talented coders I know of , and not just in cryptography, cryptocurrency, bitcoin, altcoins, ect...... the guy (bluedragon747 is his name) is one of the f'ing smartest people I have ever run across on the web and I have been around a while (a lot longer than I have ever joined this forum vs. visit it) and even before this forum existed studying and learning a bit of this and that.
Turns out this man with activity 14 more than me actually is a solid programer in at least 20 to 25 languages !! (I have counted so far based on our conversations)
He has done and still does 3d game development from the ground up.
He is an expert at programing from scratch fpga boards.
Oh and yea he can code in c++ too and could certainly hold a position equal to many of the talented people I see and read comments almost daily from the github of the bitcoin source code. When he launched Blake Coin he was like me, low activity so if I had judged him on that I would have made a grave mistake !!
Food for thought to all who want to 'boost' (for each lol) your reputation !!!
Skills and accomplishments on github and involvment with real projects that are not scams can go a long way to getting you any real credability.
If that is not enough consider this: There are three users of this forum I can think of off hand (I won't name them) who are just I think members or full members. They rarely post anything. BUT..... Each of them, when I was trying to figure something out and approached them totally blew me away with how much they knew that I did not know and were very helpful and none demanded btc up front.
There are some truly gifted and tanented people in these forums.
Don't judge someone by their number of posts or their ranking.
I used to think that way (I am a woman) so it seemed natural in a mostly male environment those with more 'stripes on their shoulders' must be the guys who knew it all and carried the most experience / knowledge. Not always true.....
There are certainly exceptions to this. Some people who are sr. members, hereo members or the new 'legendary' status are just as brilliant as their titles may suggest. Want an example ? Check out dreamwatcher !
His work on cce 4 (which he recently open sourced ) is a 'state of the art block crawler /explorer/ rich list / multi purpose / musts have tool for all coins has done some absolutly genius work.
Look at this thread with some examples of his work.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1088291.0If you are involved with an alt coin how could you not want his version of a block crawler ??
I realize bitcoin has blockchain but if you can't get that , I think this is asbout the next best thing !!!
Still open sourced it is not easy !! I spent 2 hours last night fooling with it and don't have it working yet.
And I do have some experience with abe block crawlers (the old standard) which I can put together in about twenty minutes plus the time it takes a coins block chain to download so.....
Have fun on the forum and don't 'read in' too much about someone's level , activity, rank ect.....
See what they really know or what accomplishments they have. If they have no accomplishments that may be cool too , not everyone publishes everything they know how to do around here !!
In fact I think there are many who know how to do a lot of things who keep their 'secret recipe' just that !!
Have fun , make sure you leave (the real) Satoshi positive trust !!! lol
