Not sure if I've got the correct forum for this (maybe it should have been in "service discussion?), but I found it interesting that I could pay for something as mundane and common as a newspaper subscription from a large metropolitan area with bitcoins.

Just subscribed to the Chicago Sun-Times.  They now take bitcoins for subscriptions. They appear to be using Coinbase for payment processing.

yep, the Sun Times experimented with a paywall, which worked out pretty well and started taking subscriptions in BTC also.  they reported that 10% of all new subscriptions since implementation have been made with BTC.

Looks like I'm not part of that 10%

That's very cool but I think printed newspapers would take cow manure as payment if they thought they could exchange them for dollars to keep their doors open. Newspapers are going the way of the dinosaur.

Newspapers are going the way of the dinosaur.

They're evolving into birds?

Yes, in the form of origami toilet paper. The best use of a newspaper today is for wrapping fresh fish. The news is old by the time it's printed.

Love it, Justus.

My mum buys a big thick weekend paper because her little dog is incontinent...

That's very cool but I'm sure that printed newspapers will die in near future
