sounds like OP thinks that if women get into bitcoin, he will have something in common with women to be able to talk to them, and hopefully form a relationship by showing off his passion.... for bitcoin.
this is the many dozenth topic about trying to get women on board. i think people need to realize, women are on board. they just dont show it off because they dont want to be stalked by single guys that think a chat-up line is "do you accept bitcoin".
the only reason people like the OP doesn't think women are into bitcoin is more about the way he approaches girls to start a conversation.. and they ignore him.. thus he automatically thinks they dont know what he is talking about, rather then realizing its him they are ignoring, not the topic.
whenever you go to any geeky conventions such as Dr Who, cosplay, bitcoin, gaming competitions, you can easily spot the girls. because there are 12 guys circling them trying any and every method their juvenile minds can think up to try impressing the girls.
people need to realise that bitcoins is just money. its not gender specific and is not prejudice to anything or anyone.

an insecure or a attention whore would only do that i think because there is no competition or a rival with some other girls so basically they are much more into fame rather than bitcoin

On a serious note: Not all women are shopaholic narcissists.
There are most likely a bunch of women in tech who 'get bitcoin'.
How many women work in silicone Valley as percentage of the entire workforce? If you can get that number, you'd probably get a ballpark number for how many women have the potential to be involved.
But also imagine the opportunity in developing countries.
If a woman has access to a computer and the internet, she can learn to make a website and sell items on this website that her village produces. The items can be paid in bitcoins and shipped to the customer. The received bitcoins can be used to order stuff for the village, or also be used as a means of payment within the village. Of course, you need someone to teach the others, but the opportunities are endless.

Who cares? Why do we need to target women? They will adopt when they see it as sufficiently beneficial. Worry about providing useful services, and adoption will come.

Once Bitcoin gets popular, its acceptability among the women and other core groups will increase and their proportion will rise.

Either bitcoin fulfills a need for you, or it doesn't. Why should it matter whether you are female or male?

Hey guys, I'm wondering, what are some of the ways in which we could encourage more women to adopt bitcoin or other alternative currencies? I'm setting up a web magazine for women and I want to include practical bitcoin information. Then I wondered, what are the primary motivators for women to adopt bitcoin?
Firstly, if you aren't female then I strongly suggest that you find a woman that you can work with to do the research. There's a number of reasons for this, but foremost would be that a woman is much more likely to be able to empathise with and understand another woman's point of view without a tendency to be patronising. Secondly, there's already tons of web sites and groups out there dedicated to providing Bitcoin information to women. There is also at least one magazine already. Are you sure that you are going to be providing something new? Would you do better working with one of these? e.g. https://www.facebook.com/womeninbitcoinFinally, I suspect that the percentage of women in the Bitcoin community is actually a lot larger than the percentage of women in the bitcointalk.org community, so directing these questions to the above site, Reddit, others you can find by searching for "women in bitcoin" etc. may provide a lot better results. Here's the twitter accounts of some prominent women in Bitcoin: https://twitter.com/scarrbondalehttps://twitter.com/Anna_K_NonEhttps://twitter.com/anjiecasthttps://twitter.com/mrsbitcoinhttps://twitter.com/TrueBitcoinGirlhttps://twitter.com/etploshayhttps://twitter.com/PerianneDChttps://twitter.com/crypt0queenhttps://twitter.com/christineluhttps://twitter.com/BrittanyErstadhttps://twitter.com/BitcoinBarbieand so on… Follow them and you will find a ton of women talking about Bitcoin. Ask them what they would be interested in.

Hello, I am VERY much interested in getting more women involved in the crypto community. I am working with Coinproz currently, and trying to establish a network of news sources, merchants, escrow services etc. If you already have a site dedicated to females in the community, please contact me at Chrisbates01@gmail.com if you are interested in becoming part of the Coinproz Network, as we are trying to not make cryptos another "boys's club". We have girlfriends, mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters, and don't want them to be left out. We also don't want to be disingenuous and be a group of males speaking for women. As I said, please contact me if you are interested in networking so we can help women get a bigger forum in this community. Chris Bates This is currently the Coinproz Twitter page, as we are about 10 days from launching the site still: https://twitter.com/coinproz

I wonder how many "women" on the internet are actually women and not very bored sociopathic men... My significant other thinks most of the time it's men pretending to be women based on how much time they spend tearing down other women. Pretty masculine thing to do in her opinion edit: "masculine" was probably the wrong choice of word..."typical patriarchal male" is more like it

If Nordstrom's accepted BTC and then offered discounts for BTC transactions, they would be all over it. Or Christian Louboutin. Either of those companies would open the floodgates

I am a woman, and you are right - I realized after reading some of the comments that this wasn't the most effective place to post this question. But thanks again for the links, I'll check them out.

I think they will start to care when they can spend rich early investors wallets at the mall. Until then, not likely from my experience with womenz.

I like the technology and the opportunity to see how it evolves as a free market currency: though find it interesting to see how we keep injecting it into centralized (more comfortable) systems (myself included). I mine, didn't realize woman were not actively participating (at first), can totally relate to why some woman would prefer not to participate in forums, haven't bought shoes with it... yet, would prefer to be saving more of it but am spending and look forward to the days when it's easier for everyone to use.
P.S. I would not pan for gold, seriously... mud, muck and outdoors with bugs? No thanks.
Though I'm more than content to take a pile of components and cards: spending hours cursing at them until they work.

There 'used' to be more truth in forums than anywhere else. Twitter: @cryptobitchicks Spock: "I am expressing multiple attitudes simultaneously. To which are you referring?" INTJ-A
