You could try asking people for there recyclables and trade them in for cash.  People make good money doing that so that is an option.  Don't take it without the ok though or you may find yourself either arrested on being fined.

+1,  you can use recyclable product and that product sell more costly in market.

I've never collected junk metal, but I know some people who have made money that way.
Scrap metals prices are relatively high now, but the current price of gas hurts your possible profits.

Post more on the forums, then you can join a signature campaign.  Then when you post here you'll get paid, so in a way it's getting free stuff for doing something you'd do anyway.  Of course, the spam is getting so bad you can get banned if you abuse it.
