I have written an extended blog post, based on this thread:
http://stanislavs.org/is-the-west-gearing-up-to-invade-russia-once-again/

In the meantime, provocations continue. Ukrainian military shelled Russian land in Rostov region (control point Gukovo). Russian opened a criminal case against Ukraine on this account:

http://rusvesna.su/news/1404124233

I'm curious about how long it will take before Russia fights back and starts kicking Ukrainian asses along the border (creating something like a demilitarized zone). A first fatality? Cool

Sometime in November, when the frosts set in...

“Dark times lie ahead of us and there will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right.”
“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”
“It is important to fight and fight again, and keep fighting, for only then can evil be kept at bay, though never quite eradicated.”

We're not touching Russia.  I know for certain we have no intentions of doing anything if we draw a red line like we did with Syria and...oh there we go drawing a line.

US will probably do something stupid and provoke Russia into invading another country that sided with US.

Global war is unlikely to happen. But that doesn't mean Russia's neighbors and Europe won't suffer.

It has never been closer to WW3 since 1942, and you say that global was is unlikely to happen? Cmon everyone can feel the tensions going around the world. China, Russia, India and North Korea are just waiting for the clap to start war.

You are right there. Add Russia to the list of countries not interested in a war. As with WWI and WWII, Russia will only stand to lose if a war is imposed on it. What Russia needed and was denied since the beginning of 1900 is a prolonged period of peace to develop its economy.

The USA also relies on a lot of Russian supplies and technology as well
As they say you can mess with small countries but not large ones who you rely on in the international system.

The war is being shifter closer to Russian territory:

Several shells exploded on Russian territory, near border control point Novoshahtijsk. 2 buildings were damaged:
http://rusvesna.su/news/1404371346

Russian battalions are setting up firing positions 300 meters to 1.5 kilometers from the border to defend Russia from a looming invasion:
http://rusvesna.su/news/1404346620

The workers of the Russian border control point Gukovo are evacuated due to the approaching battles:

As they say you can mess with small countries but not large ones who you rely on in the international system.

Well, US resumed import of Russian rocket engines. On the other hand, it's nothing that US cannot replace at short notice, if the seeming benefit of a war outweighs the losses.

US sanctions are new type of offensive weapon – Russia’s Deputy FM
http://rt.com/politics/170424-us-sanctions-weapon-russia/

Quote
Russia's leading diplomat in charge of relations with the US has called Washington’s policy of sanctions “a new offensive strategic weapon”, and warned that Russia was preparing a response, albeit not a mirror one.

“Sanctions, both declared and undeclared, are being used against a wider circle of countries and on a wider scale. I have an impression that the Washington power circles had come to the conclusion that it is sometimes simpler and cheaper to impose sanctions on some nation than use a conventional military force against it,” Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in an interview with the influential business daily Kommersant.

Why should China sell them at a loss? Right now the demand for US treasury bonds are at an all-time low. If China unloads a few trillion worth of bonds, there will be simply no buyers to mop them up.

That's the whole point, they're worthless so they're trying to get rid of them, to be honest, might as well just burn them all or something, it would make a pretty powerful statement too.

The loss is already there. Selling the bond and swap it for something of value is better than letting the loss run unchecked.

A large part of their Forex reserves is in the form of US treasury bonds. And we should remember that China still uses the US Dollar for a large majority of its foreign trade. At the most, they might decide to refrain from buying any more bonds. I don't think they will reduce their bond stockpiles.

Here it comes:

Hillary Clinton classified Putin as "dangerous" and urges the West to send him a "clear signal":

I hope that "clear signal" does not involve Uranium.
