Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Well my guess is its the guy running Mt.Gox and/or bitcoin.org.

Mt.Gox is Japanese right? Satoshi Nakamoto is a Japanese name. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

I think its awesome that we live in a world during peak oil, WWIII looming, evil puppet masters manipulating politics like a game and hero geniuses changing the world while no one knows who they are.

Straight out of code geass man - sure we may die and what not, but damn it rocks Cheesy

If he runs mtgox, I would be dissapointed. Mtgox is awful.

I don't think the secret is in rearraning the letters in his name. That's pretty far out there dude..

I've been in tuned to the rumor that this guy named Paco Ahlgren is SN. He lives in Tx. He wrote this book called Discipline that is parallel to all of this shit going on.   The catch? This book came out two years before bitcoin. The saga continues...

If Atlas turns out to be Satoshi Nagamoto, I know lot of users here will commit hara-kiri. This is way too weird: http://www.pacoahlgren.com/resume/paco_ahlgren_resume.php

No one who lists Crystal Reports and Sharepoint on their resume is a real crypto nerd.

Dude, that is EXACTLY why they would list that on their resume.

You gotta think outside the box. SN would never make himself that transparent.

The original client was supposedly kinda badly programmed... just throwing that out there.

Anyone have a link to that article that names Satoshi as that Irish guy, and the competing article that claims to debunk it and names a few other people as possibilities?

Or the threads on this forum that discussed these leads?

It's been a while since I read these theories.

They seemed moderately compelling, and the forum's search feature doesn't seem to like me.

Discipline by Paco Ahlgren.

I took the bait and read the book. I can see why people speculate that he is Satoshi Nakamoto. There are tons of parallels, especially around the time frame that bitcoin came out. HOWEVER....  I am finding this concept hard to grasp that PA could be associated. I just don't see it. So he wrote a book. Lots of people do. It's called coincidence.

Man, I find this stuff fascinating!

Whoever he/she/they are, they've certainly made their mark on history. Must be weird not being able to tell anyone about it.

Not only when one reads Discipline, it reads you, for Archangel OP is an anagram for Paco Ahlgren.

My theory? Well....
Here it goes...

I think he created this currency, not realizing how valuable his privacy was going to be once it took off. I have some friends who have been fans of Paco Ahlgren's book, Discipline. They think he wrote the book as a facade to cover up what he was really creating on the side. This book has too many parallels, although I'm not giving into this theory that PA is SN. It's too basic. Just doesn't seem like the answer to this mystery. However, PA is almost totally off the radar now too...which  (if i let myself get carried away) may seem like he MIGHT be involved somehow. If he's not SN, he could be someone heavily involved. Lots to speculate.

I was looking into the background of Andrew (Andy) Davidoff the other day to see if there was a connection.

The creator is probably a member of this forum.

1. He is known to use forums
2. This is one of the largest bitcoin forums

If so, he would probably look at all of the threads posted about his identity.
