Lost 150 BTC from this address

After hearing about the R-value and RNG incidences,
I wondering if the private key of the address can really be derived or the intruder must have got in another way.

I posted on reddit few days ago, http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/23ybk8/just_came_back_from_hospital_for_appendix_rupture/

but it's such a big amount that I couldn't let go,

TLDR:, the address is from my blockchain.info wallet, I made a big mistake importing it to my main wallet, forgot about it, and one day decided to randomly pick an address to receive 151 BTC, turned out that I picked that address, 2 months later, 150 BTC traveled on its own out of the address, it took me 5 days to realized the loss.

I wasn't sure how I signed up for my blockchain.info wallet. I cannot find prove that I used browser to sign up that day, there is a slight chance that it could be an android device.

no, it's hard earned money, and I'm sick of it. I got hit by a string of bad luck since october, starting by popping shoulder in ocean while surfing, cracked another wrist a few months later wakeboarding, diagnosed with anal fistula, went through ass operation, upon recovery appendix suddenly bursted, went through another surgery, came back home, checked the wallet, and kaboom !

It was poor judgement on your part.  I'm sorry from your loss, and let's hope that you can learn from it and not keep 151 BTC lying around in a single, online wallet.

Hate reading things like this as apart from anything else, any of us could be next. I know I have my BTC in a paper wallet but I worry about something like this happening when I eventually bring them out of cold storage to sell them. I had intended to sweep them into my blockchain wallet & from there send them to the company that I use to buy & sell through, but I am concerned that in the short time they'd be in my blockchain wallet, they could disappear.

It is generally not a good idea to re-use your addresses, even if they are safe.

I didn't want to back up my wallet so often which involves retrieving some usbs under a few trees. Well, I should have used keypool=100000 and forget this bullshit. And I was on an impression that reusing address is not so bad in practice.

I'm not sure if any clarified you on this but I'd bet my last cent that it was as a result of a flaw in security on you're end rather than a collision with someone attaining the same private key as you. I'm sorry for your loss but if you still have a significant sum of coins I would suggest you look into cold storage for safekeeping and a smaller hot wallet for day to day spending. I'm doubtful anyone would need 60k worth of liquidity in Bitcoin for their day to day transactions.

AFAIK there have been a couple of incidents where people managed to get their coin back but it was only because they managed to get the thief's dox and threaten to post them publicly. However in general for people who lose coins to an anonymous thief it is hard to track them down and hassle them to return the stolen coins.

That's one of the reasons why people convert their BTC to FIAT money, because they feel their money are more safe in FIAT and sometimes things happen like for this dude when you keep your wealth in BTC =/

I believe only Android systems were affected due to RNG flaw, and you had reuse the same address. Today many peoples/services reuse the same address and I didnt heard of any losses because of this, so I consider it safe
