What can you going to do when someone use it in an "un-Halal" way, say lending that "halal altcoin" out with interest?

I always spend my gambling winnings at Halal restaurants.

Any significantly advanced cryptocurrency is indistinguishable from Ponzi Tulips.

im sorry but the world uses fiat, and fiat is used for gambling, etc. if certain religions think bitcoin is bad due to gambling then they can send me their billions of FIAT. or burn it and only trade sheep. as fiat is worse then bitcoin

that said the only way to offer a halal currency is to have one pegged at a fixed price, where it never appears on an exchange and is just 100% fixed forever. as exchanges(trading platforms) are a form of gambling too

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.

I think it would be impossible to regulate/stop a cryptocurrency from being used in gambling.

If somehow you could, just convert it fiat or another crypto and gamble from there.

It really wouldn't.

And Fiat money is used for gambling and is usually issued with interest, but that doesn't make it non-Halal.

Is there a Halal Cryptocurrency, since Bitcoin mining is more and more gambling, this would not be Halal.
The Islamic rules are often implemented and taught without truly understanding the point of the rule. Gambling is not allowed because of how it encourages taking advantage of people to take their money through the false possibility of wining money for nothing. Mining is not a comparable activity and hence cannot be considered haram on these grounds. If you intend to profit from selling your Bitcoins during the price hike then that could constitute as gambling (due to making profit from doing nothing) and hence could be haram.

Note, I am not a scholar nor am I a Muslim but from what I learned about Islam it appears that a thorough logical analysis is required when deciding the impact of new "things".

But if you create a cryptocurrency without interest, gambling etc;  around 25 % of the world could use this coin.

Idea or not?

Hans Sturkenboom

we don't Need halal!

Holding btc doesn't incur interest. The value of gold and silver go up and down and they were used as currency for over 1000 years in the Islamic world. Muslims in the Sahara used to use seashells as currency because they were non-existent in the desert and required difficult journeys to acquire.

The fiat currency system that's around right now isn't halal; banks that deal in usury, printing non-stop paper with imaginary values, putting pictures of dead guys on those papers, etc. Many Muslim scholars agree that dealing with usurious banks (pretty much all of them), is haram/forbidden except in cases of necessity (ie. Job that requires bank account to get paid, no safe place to store money, etc).

There's a middle east btc exchange already in the works.
