Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Any pattern you see is pure coincidence. Trying to predict luck is madness.

When mining solo I just mine to my bitcoind directly with cgminer. Everyone should have solo as a last resort backup even if they don't want to mine solo.

when i try to solo mine using cgminer i get a lower hashrate than with a pool or bitsolo.net. i have no idea why and i am still learning the in's and out's regarding mining. Payouts with normal pools and my one miner result in a payout in about 8 months so i really have nothing to lose Sad
Presumably you were using some ancient version of cgminer. It was totally rewritten to solo mine fast not that long ago, so use the latest version.

 Hi ckolivas,
first question, are you ckolivas of cgminer fame, I hope so? if so Great!

Second question,
I have been trying to set up Technobit Hex8 A1 130gh/s miner for solo mining bitcoin but after I run cgminer, input url: user: password:
all i get is:
"HEX8 0  200  800/800  000mg/s 000mg/s.

I have been through some posts on setting up solo mining, I have download/installed bitcoin-qt
I have made .conf file  and cgminer .conf  and are, I think, in correct directory, but whatever I have tried, I always get zero hash rate and miner not drawing any power.

I am using a cgminer.conf (i got with from a post somewhere)which previously worked with a pool with no problems, but when I put info of my own in cgminer.conf thenrun after save, it never works the same and I get the above.
I think I am be making errors in .conf,  please if you have any suggestions that could help would be greatful, also what else could i be doing wrong? Thanks

hope its ok to post About Hex8 solo mining here it's sort of related?

regards

Yes I wrote and continue to maintain cgminer. No I don't have any hex8 code in cgminer so I'm guessing you're using a fork of cgminer in which case you need to ask whoever's maintaining that fork.

Luck can be predicted if you are lucky enough.

I solo mine 7/24 with all my older ugh/s usb miners because at the pool level its not even a drop in the bucket … The one thing that is hard for me to understand is that on the pool level I get a share notification and that is how I verify that the miners are not hung up… when I solo mine, the only thing I see is block hight messages … I assume its working but its hard to tell what is going on in the back ground … I set my S1 miners to fail over to my bitcoind server as well in case my primary and secondary pool go down… It shows the bitcoind server as alive, but I have zero notification that any real mining is going on … I suspect it is, just above my head lol ...
