there are a few issues with the wallet application tho.
I'm using the Windows wallet with updated blockchain from the one above.
if the wallet app crashes (which happens too many times for my liking), the entire blockchain must be searched.
this takes days on my i7 4970K (4.8Ghz) with 2.5GB/sec nvme drive.
it's actually faster restarting from the one above. This can't be how that's supposed to go.
Maybe this is just because of too few peers, that I don't know.

I've been solo mining MMC for a few days now but it is a pain because the wallet app keeps crashing (also the built-in miner doesn't stop when you ask it nicely by clicking on Solo Mining Off)

I never get wallet crashes. If I get disconnected from peers for whatever reason, I go to http://coinofview.com/coin/Memorycoin.html and list the peers under the network section. I run "addnode x.x.x.x onetry" from the console and the wallet is back in business.

If you are interested in better HPM, then send me a PM. I can probably help you out.

Are you solo mining with the wallet? I'm looking for a different solution but it seems all pools are dead and I'm not in the position right now to set up my own. I have multiple computers at my disposal and some servers so I *could* - just not right now

You can mine from your wallet using YAM from yvg1900 at https://t.co/whkQyh2XA2. It is much faster than the wallet miner.

Thanks for sharing this very useful miner mate. I have seen that the one from within the wallet is indeed much slower so I hope that with this one I could make as many MMC as I can. I'm running this on my Intel Core i5 laptop with 2 cores running as I don't want to overheat too much by using its full cores. Let's see if MemoryCoin could be worth $0.01 someday  Roll Eyes

the yam miner seems to stop creating shares/solutions after 15-30 minutes. restart the miner and it picks back up.
any ideas?
my params :
mining-params = mmc:av=1&aesni=on&m=1024
threads = 8

worker-params = 0:cpu-bind=6
worker-params = 1:cpu-bind=4
worker-params = 2:cpu-bind=2
worker-params = 3:cpu-bind=0

worker-params = 4:cpu-bind=7
worker-params = 5:cpu-bind=5
worker-params = 6:cpu-bind=3
worker-params = 7:cpu-bind=1

That is normal. YAM is expecting to connect to a pool to donate 2% cpu cycles to the author. When YAM cannot connect after 400 shares, it stops hashing. You can create a script file on linux or a batch file on windows to restart the program every so often.

next issue :
I tried to transfer some coins to another wallet but the wallet gives me a message about sending already spent coins.
it deducts the amount from the available balance, but the transaction (c1a04a724b0f394f8a83fb939fd8ba0b98c64b8169bc4aaf16a8bd0610a2f1a3-000) doesn't get validated (0/6)
Multiple rounds have been mined and verified after this transaction.

Transaction details : (in dutch)
Status: 0/onbevestigd, uitgezonden naar 8 nodes
Datum: 11/07/2016 07:52
Aan: MFJRH6J2pPYpFBV55LSKNMjGq6Kce1QoVB
Debet: -950.00 MMC
Transactiekosten: -20.36 MMC
Netto bedrag: -970.36 MMC
Transactie-ID:: c1a04a724b0f394f8a83fb939fd8ba0b98c64b8169bc4aaf16a8bd0610a2f1a3

any ideas?

[edit]
I currently have 10 active connections to the MMC network so that should be fine as well
[/edit]

[edit2]
... and it just got confirmed - 3 hours after the actual transaction

let's give this coin some momentum again.
I really like the 'no GPU' approach :-)
If anyone can explain how to set up a pool (p2pool or anything else) please let me know. I've got plenty of resources available to run one.
There would need to be multiple pools tho to make sure I don't get >50% :-p

availability on more exchanges would also benefit the coin - not sure how to achieve that :-p

Setting up p2pool for MMC is not too hard. The problem is that the code for the root node on p2pool needs to be updated because the original domain coded in is down. It is not too hard, but we could bootstrap the p2pool sharechain and get a few pools up easy if you are interested. I will be out of town all next week and I am not sure how quickly we could get everything done.

umm...
lol well basically I know NOTHING about setting up a pool & stuff - haven't played around with it much.
I do have easy access to some VPS servers, or could actually set up a new one especially for this purpose.
That's basically the resources I was talking about.

let me know in PM what I can do or how I can help and I'll gladly (try to) comply ;-)

quite an interesting concept - ill be watching the progress ...

i do wonder though - that if the coin was more 'popular' - that the demand would lend itself the production of gpu miners ...

nothing is ultimately impossible in this day and age - its just a matter of whether its worth the time and effort involved ...

#crysx

I am sure that you are right, but unfortunately there are very few of us left who keep the blockchain alive.

well - im interested ...

so let me know what you and the few are doing - and what can be done ...

#crysx

I would like to get the wallet updated and perhaps get a GPU miner going again, but lately a lot of the hashing power has leveled off. The difficulty has even gone down considerably in the last day or two.

ive just come back from the rebuild of thefarm - and i only have half of it running currently due to unforeseen issues ...

but in this instance - there maybe some backend things i can do - like nodes and infrastructure related help ... but time is so limited for me currently - and i need to research this code to make sure anything can be done on our end ...

it will need to be later though - and only IF it is feasible to include it in the infrastructure we have ...

will see mate ... just too much on my plate to focus a lot of time for this project here currently - though my interest is still alive ...

The specifications for running an MMC pool are relatively small. The blockchain is less than 800mb and it can be run on a single core server with about 1gb (recommend 2gb) of ram. If you decide to setup a pool, I will cut out slice on my VM server for another pool to run a root node.

if anyone could write/link me up a guide on how to do this, I could easily spare some resources.
I lack the expertise to get the daemon and pool portion running currently (as in : I've never done this before).

I am working on the mmc-p2pool source code because I found an error in the subsidy function.

Additionally, I believe there is a problem with grant blocks that has not yet been resolved. If I remember correctly, mmc-p2pool is unable to solve grant blocks because the original p2pool code only builds one kind of block. At this point, I do not know how to resolve the grant block issue. Without someone manually solving grant blocks, mmc-p2ool will halt until the grant block is solved.
