Why would you just give up? You should be out there promoting the hell out of the coin. Get on IRC. Get other pools to mine it. Point out that the diff will go extremely low once we get past block 900. Sponsor some giveaways on places like ecoiner.org. Go to furry fan sites and get people interested in buying the coin.

We could have pitched in and helped get over the hump, but if the creator is so quick to give up, then why should we gamble our hash rate? And the same logic applies to people spending bitcoin to buy furrycoin on the exchange. Why risk your bitcoins if the coin's creator doesn't believe the coin will succeed? Some miners were mining to sell to those people, so when they stop buying, some miners will stop mining.

Prolifik is a full member. One would have thought that he would have noticed that coins require confident leadership and promotion.
