So far, no witnesses have come forward to corroborate Egan's accusations regarding any of the four. But the idea that underage boys were drugged and raped at the Encino estate, and sometimes threatened with guns by Collins-Rector, is hardly new. I had a friend who worked for his last company, Playsino. They worked for months on casino games on the Facebook platform.

Things weren't going well (they failed to ship a product), and Brock kept promising them that investment was coming. Most of them were working for reduced or no salary for weeks, with the promise that they'd be paid when investment finally came in. It didn't, Brock moved on and left a lot of his employees financially screwed.

This guy's just a greedy opportunist. If he senses he can make money from it, he'll drop everything and use his resume/child actor status/PR firm to push his way in. This is why he's trying to lobby the japanese courts to steal people's Bitcoins - he doesn't give a shit about the original owners or the community, he's just in it to make as much money as possible for himself.

There is no way on earth this guy is good for Bitcoin. Please don't vote him into the foundation.

Under its new moniker, Playsino will look to leverage its traction in the tournaments and virtual rewards space and double down on another emerging vertical: social casino games. Ambitiously, Playsino is setting out to build “the world’s largest social gaming casino platform,” and is naming a new CEO to help lead the way. Brock Pierce, who will be the startup’s CEO, is the managing Director of the Clearstone Global Gaming Fund, and a serial entrepreneur, having founded eight companies and acquired 30 more in various capacities.

Pierce played an early role in the development of virtual goods, founding Internet Gaming Entertainment (IGE) in 2001 and Zam in 2003. In addition to new leadership, Playsino is also announcing today that it has raised $1.5 million in venture capital as part of an ongoing round. The investment was led by IDM Venture Capital, a Singapore-based venture capital firm, Pacific Capital Group, Siemer Ventures, and a number of angel investors, including Jordan Simons of GCP and Wicks Walker of W4 Ventures. Existing investor Tomorrow Ventures also participated in the round.

I think we should pick our fights and the Bitcoin Foundation's fight is Bitcoin. Maybe Brock's name is being unjustly dragged in the mud but unfortunately, it won't matter to journalists who want to damage Bitcoin's image or to Joe Sixpack watching Fox News. Similar to law firms, PR organisations should not be concerned about what's morally "right" or "wrong". The only thing that should matter to them is defending their client (i.e. Bitcoin) in the court of public opinion. Charlie Shrem understood that which is why he resigned shortly after his arrest. It doesn't matter whether the foundation is "right" to support Brock if in the end it fails at its goal of promoting Bitcoin. Therefore, I disagree that the foundation should "stand by Brock's side" like some people here have suggested... let's make a Brock Foundation for that.

Now that he's on The Bitcoin Foundation board, he can push his weight around and dictate what happens on this forum. I'm not versed in how such is accomplished, but I can assume that that assessment is not too far off the mark.

So, one can now get a negative trust rating for the entire world to see on BitcoinTalk for simply expressing opinions and facts.

Mention DEN, the Digital Entertainment Network, and dot-com historians will know you're talking about the ugliest of the bubble implosions. A forerunner to YouTube, it was brought down by the pedophile appetites of founder Marc Collins-Rector, who had promised to build "the last network," burying TV forever. Its three founders lived in a VC-funded mansion in L.A. where boys -- promised stardom in Web clips -- [filed lawsuits claiming to have been] raped after decadent parties.

What happened after the three founders -- including Disney child star Brock Pierce -- fled the FBI by heading for Spain? An investigative report by Radar Magazine catches up with Marc Collins-Rector, who is walking rakishly free in London...and his protege Brock Pierce, whose giant company IGE -- which buys and sells cash in "World Of Warcraft" and other games -- is winning rave write-ups in Fortune and other magazines. In our long investigation, we discovered strong evidence that Collins-Rector -- who is hiding his money from child abuse victims -- may have helped fund IGE.

As the lawsuits against the company mounted in early 2000, DEN–in which Pierce held nearly one million shares and Collins-Rector still owned a majority stake–began to hemorrhage money. The planned IPO, which was postponed after the first abuse allegations surfaced, was permanently shelved. A crumbling Nasdaq didn't help the situation. By May 2000, the start-up was bankrupt. Before long, its headquarters were gutted, the expensive computer equipment and office chairs sold off for a fraction of their original cost. Around Hollywood, rumors flew that Collins-Rector, Shackley, and Pierce were about to be arrested on embezzlement and sexual offenses. Before any charges were filed, though, the three men disappeared.
They didn't turn up again until May 2002, when a tip to Interpol led authorities to raid their luxury villa in Marbella, on the Spanish Riviera–an area British tabloids have dubbed the Costa del Crime due to its high population of English-speaking fugitives. Among the items recovered from the residence were guns, machetes, a trove of jewels, and child pornography. Pierce and Shackley were held for about a month by Spanish police and then released.

The prosecution of Collins-Rector also proved difficult. He remained in a Spanish jail for almost two years, fighting extradition, before finally being brought to the United States, where he pled guilty to eight charges of child enticement, a comparably minor offense. He was soon out of prison–receiving credit for the time he'd served in Spain. Since most of his alleged crimes took place at the mansion in Encino, it was up to L.A. County prosecutors to make any further charges stick, but the DA never took steps to do so. (The L.A. County district attorney's office refused to comment about the status of any DEN investigation.) The victims sought justice in the civil courts, however, winning a total of $4.5 million in summary judgments. Except for a small side agreement with Pierce, the award has yet to be paid, lawyers say.

Such brazen behavior wouldn't surprise anyone who knew Collins-Rector back when DEN was riding high. In those heady days before the Internet bust, a Who's Who of gay Hollywood flocked to notorious all-night bashes at the "M&C estate," so named for Marc and his twentysomething cohort Chad Shackley. The pair, who met on an online bulletin board (remember those?) when Shackley was just 15, collaborated on a number of tech start-ups, including an early Internet service provider, Concentric Network Services.

Flush with cash from their successful ventures, Collins-Rector (who had changed his name from the more pedestrian Rector) and his young colleague landed in Encino, California, where they took a special liking to a $4.2 million Spanish colonial McMansion that had previously belonged to Death Row Records rap impresario Suge Knight. Streams and waterfalls traced the carefully manicured 1.5-acre grounds, which housed a tennis court, an enormous gazebo, a swimming pool, aquariums, a home theater, and a hot tub built for 12.

Among their new acquaintances in Los Angeles were such industry heavies as David Geffen, uber-manager Sandy Gallin, then–NBC Entertainment president Garth Ancier, and Usual Suspects director Bryan Singer. It's also where they hatched an audacious plan for a Web-based television venture that was to consign the networks to the dustbin of history. They called it DEN, and staked its business model on "narrowcasting," or marketing to thin demographic segments. An early attempt to capture the online video zeitgeist that eventually blossomed with YouTube, den.net was instead rooted in original programming.

The plan attracted major investments from key players in Hollywood, the tech industry, and Wall Street, ranging from Geffen and Singer to Intel, NBC, and Microsoft. Representative Michael Huffington wrote a check for $5 million after a lavish dinner party at M&C, boasting to a friend that he expected to reap at least a tenfold gain from his investment.

Another regular at the mansion was DEN executive VP Brock Pierce. He was aggressive and self-assured, with blond hair and an insouciant pout. He was also still a teenager—17 years old and coming off a successful career as a child actor, with The Mighty Ducks and First Kid among his credits. According to a DEN board member, Pierce was hired as "the guy who could tell us what Gen Y-ers were likely to think." This talent came in handy not only in targeting the youth demographic, but also in bringing a supply of beautiful young men to the estate, lured with vague promises of fame as the Internet's first TV stars.

BTW, all the above was big news back in the day, and only recently has resurfaced in the mainstream media, sans the Bitcoin connection, notwithstanding the comments therewithin. Brock Pierce was put on my radar via a prominent Bitcoiner who didn't want his name attach to my findings, ergo I now have the pleasure of being an untrustworthy bitcoiner, in spite of never taking one satoshi from a soul, exposing scams, et al. and saving fellow bitcoiners untold amount of money sans any payment for my efforts, nor seeking any, along with personally being ripped off 1,132 BTC by a staff member of BitcoinTalk, namely davout. But, if I had access to tens of millions of dollars to further Bitcoin and fucked underage boys in the ass, I would be the champion.

Still, DEN pressed on, shrinking the format and utilizing shots with as little movement as possible.
