So... since there is a reaaaally good chance that we'll have another bubble... would people be interested in gathering together to convert some of their profits into other investments?
It seems like if you properly structured things, you could bring together up to 38 individuals into buying things like oil wells, billboards etc... that provide a longterm cash payoff.
It seems possible to me that folks are going to take their money up 10x - 20x their investment this year, it would make sense to utilize some measure of collective resources for longterm gain.
Market volatility for bitcoin isn't likely to vanish overnight. (unless there is some sort of... calamity to strike fiat currencies... however unlikely that may be)
So yeah, if there IS another bubble and folks want to diversify in tangible assets, maybe some sort of co-op investment club would be useful since you'd combine many times the buying power with many times the # of opportunities.

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable. Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

It would be nice to see the ability to invest in more bitcoin related services as is done on GBSE. I would like to see Bitcoinica on there. Maybe they would be able to raise funds for their liquidity problems.

Introducing constraints to the economy only serves to limit what can be economical.

I like how it resembles the "what will we do when we're all millionaires" threads in the primary bubble. Just that this time, the goal is a little lower.

I think the most obvious thing to invest in here is drugs. Since countries have very consistent drug policies, drug prices have remained around the same (accounting for inflation) for almost a century. Currently 15% of my hedge is in cocaine with another 5% in opium. I used to invest in methamphetamine but since the bubble in '05 I've been a little more cautious. Marijuana is close to being legal so expect diminishing returns if you choose to invest there.
If we all group our investments we will probably be able to afford a small Colombian coca leaf plantation as well as pay off the government officials. Should a bitcoin bubble crash this will be a very reliable investment, provided we can keep current local officials in power.

Dont forget to invest in beavers eh... Yeah our government up here is instituting MMS for small amounts of pot that will send prices skyrocketing. This will only help the dealers so there is lots of money to be made by organized crime in Canada for years to come thanks to Harper.
