if the Dow ends up, like it looks like it will, it seems to me that i've noticed small rallies beginning right after the close. Wall St. traders rotating to the Bitcoin markets? no guarantees of course.

Wondering, would there not be a lag time in shifting wall street profits over to bitcoin exchanges?

There would, but I'm guessing that this theory is saying that they have existing funds on the exchanges and when they go home for the night, they're more likely to speculate on Bitcoin when they're up.

Oh yeah, that's true.

I could be wrong though, but I don't see why professional traders couldn't just add bitcoins to their list of traded securities even during work hours. In fact, for some it may even be the one thing they could legally trade without having to ask for approval.
It's imho probably more likely that bank transfers simply get approved and released after 4pm on Bitcoinica's MtGox account, which then causes their asterix to disappear for an hour or two.

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable. Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

I'm going all in at 1 BTC to test cypherdoc's Wall-Street-to-Bitcoin-Rally after effect theory.

The last time we had a long drawn-out and very narrow trading range, like we're experiencing now, we had a good rally up to next support point.
Hoping for some deja vu.

You got it. If they're screwing around with bitcoins at all right now, they're on their phones playing a game of "Probe The Starfish" between drinks. Lots of "Hey! Watch this!", "Oooh! That was tight!" and hootin' and hollerin'. Then it will be time for dinner. America Drinks And Goes Home
