Hi,

I was wondering when you buy a miner from Bitmain is china does the custom charge duties on it?

Normaly when sending a package from foreign countries there has to be a invoice on the outside showing the value of the product.
But when you pay in bitcoins and the value on the invoice is in bitcoins they should not be legally entitled to raise tax on it because bitcoin is not an official currency in most countries.
People who previous ordered miners and paid them in bitcoins, how did this work out??

I live in the Netherlands.

Yes, they do.
You have to pay VAT + Customs clearance fees

I live in Ecuador. Bitmain sent mine with DHL and listed it on the invoice as a "Video Game Gateway" and listed the value about $160. Ecuadorian Customs only charged about $16 for the duty, which DHL covered and then charged me $10 for the service. So I only paid $26 more than the price of the miner and there was no delay in delivery.

On the other hand, I ordered a PSU from Tiger Direct and Customs not only held it up for a month in Guayaquil, they also charged me an additional $100 on top of the $120 price plus $50 delivery charge!

Interesting as each Country takes a different approach.

I live in Australia and there is no customs duty / charges or hold up at all.

Sound great as I get a better deal on import than some of you guys, however you probably pay a lot less in power than I have to  Shocked

The Taxman will always require his share, That was a nice surprise for me when i spent 30k on miners the first time around and then got hit with a %20 import tax that i wasnt aware of. Not cool

im in canada, when mine are delivered i only pay about $13.00 per S1, and its for brokerage fees by UPS. Also on the invoice they always say the miner is approx $200.00.

UPS has bulk deals on brokerage fees, the larger the order, the less you pay, it's a % of the order and the larger the order, the lower the % they take; or so it used to be when I dealt with them more often.  I don't order much using UPS, so it's about $20+ a piece.  I think I read somewhere some schmuck returned his AntMiners because he couldn't afford the duties on them, then has the guts to tell BitMain Tech that the duties were not advertised as a being COD; things they don't tell you when you become an importer lol

Oh!  Here's a site a few people might like Smiley

http://www.dutycalculator.com/ - I used to work in customs brokerage, this is a good tool to ESTIMATE duties.
