Just an idea, but wouldn't it be a bit more interesting if the timer only resets if the last payment bursts a bubble?
Thoughts? Concerns?

Thanks for taking the time to read my idea :-)

Also Like the idea

I like the idea, and I bought several bubbles already Cheesy

Though I really messed up hard doing an idiotic accident when paying for the last bubble, it's late at night and I'm tired, accidentally paid 1BTC instead of 0.1BTC. FML

Change it so that if there's no refferal it goes to a random bubble.
I don't see why people aren't reffering them selves, but that's your decision.

Timer is resetting lower.  bit.ly/btcbubble

Hm. Someone got a bubble within 30 seconds of the timer expiring...
Unless this loses interest, I don't see it ending anytime soon lol.

Question though, what logic is there behind submitting a bubble at the end of the timer? If you want to win the jackpot, wouldn't it make more sense to buy a bubble asap after someone else. That way they are less likely to notice, and you have less time for someone else to jump in? Or maybe people are trying to keep it going? I'd like to get in on a new round Cheesy seems like it would be more active then.

Anyway, just a stupid thought I had as I woke up at 3AM and decided to check the sites :-/

I have changed timer to 1 hour. Should be pretty exciting! I notice we had several close ones lately, even one with 4 seconds left! So let's see, will we manage a few days with 1 hour? Seems like a lot of people are watching this bubble now compared to first round where it expired at 5 hour timer!

I think even if the timer was only 5 minutes, it'd still take quite a while before this round finishes as the minimum spend is still quite low.

There's no such thing as "last fool" in btcbubble, however there are "2nd last fool" if that makes sense. If you didn't spend last and your bubbles wasn't bursted before the timer reaches zero you will effectively lose those coins and are left with whatever advertising benefits those bubbles have gained you while they were still being displayed. That said, as long as you keep hunting the jackpot the odds of your bubbles bursting will increase, but so will your investment in the bubble.

I agree, minimum spend is way too low and it just attracts trolls paying in the last 5 seconds like we've seen many times in the last few days. Raising the min. spend would be far more effective than reducing the timer.

Wait, so you mean that when the timer expires, all non-burst bubbles are removed? Ahh I knew I probably should have read the FAQ more carefully, but you know, I like doing stuff in the middle of the night hahah. So I guess those who buy bubbles now has a very low chance of getting them bursted?

Correct. There are currently 201.2967 btc needed to burst all bubbles. Now let's take tomorrow as an example: 0.2 btc per spend, 1 hour timer = minimum 4.8 btc per day. At this rate you will see the current last bubbles bursted in 201/4.8 = 42 days. If we imagine the timer reaching 30 minutes (which it will eventually) and minimum spend 0.5 btc the calculation will be: 201/(0.5*2*24) = 8 days. Will the jackpot expire before then? Probably. Do you have the power to make it not expire? Yupp. Will you lose your money? Who knows Tongue The chances of losing money is also dependent on your strategy.

Well, If I were to spend more on keeping the timer from expiring, I might burst my previous bubbles, but I just paid for new ones. The only way I could get my bubbles burst without spending more would be to make others spend more on buying bubbles, and I am bad at making people do what I want. So I can only hope people buy bubbles on their own without me forcing them to do so to get my bubbles burst, but that probably wont happen. And I probably have no way of winning the jackpot, I was 7 seconds away the other day, but then some bastard bought a bubble xD. Maybe I should just wait for a new round and be first to buy bubbles Tongue
