As someone who would vote "Yes" for Brock Pierce being on the Bitcoin Foundation Board, I thought I would outline my thinking on the subject, mostly for Phinnaeus Gage, Xtib, and others who express incredulity that anyone could hold such a position.

First of all, the events portrayed have nothing to do with "Pedophilia," which is a sexual attraction to prepubescent minors.  They are about sex between adults and individuals in their mid teens and above, which while biologically normative, is proscribed in our society to prevent people in positions of power from taking advantage of people with little or no power of their own.  Pedophilia is not about sexually mature people having sex with other sexually mature people, no matter how inappropriate or power-disparate such encounters may be.  It is common in the gutter press and other places that should know better, to use "pedophilia" as a pejorative to refer to adult attraction to teens and as the name of a crime.  It is neither.

So what is being alleged here, is that Brock Pierce knew individuals involved with, and was associated with a scene, where exploitative adult/teen sex occurred, at a time when Mr. Pierce was not much older than the teens allegedly involved.

Apparently, to some, like Phinnaeus Gage, this means that for the rest of his life, every time Brock Pierce tries to do anything, people must leap out of the bushes, point at him, and scream "Pedophile," and then post every single news story about DEN over and over and over again, day after day after day, until peoples eyes bleed.

This in spite of the fact that no credible evidence has ever been presented that Brock Pierce engaged in the activities alleged, sufficient to charge him with any sort of crime, and it is now decades after this dead horse should have been beaten to death with a shovel and buried in a deep grave.

The actions of self-appointed "pedophile outers" like Phinnaeus Gage teeter on the fine line between legitimate concern about the sexual exploitation of minors, and gay-bashing and hate speech, especially when interspersed with "Collins-Rectum" jokes.  What's next?  Snide comments about salad-tossing and how a microwave can't brown your meat?

The notion that Bitcoin, a unregulatable distributed Cryptocurrency, which has enabled a payment system for things like illegal drugs, assassination, and child pornography, is going to have its reputation sullied because someone is on its board, who, two decades ago, as a person in his late teens and early 20's, knew some people who liked to have sex with teenagers, is laughable.  Really?  Seriously?

I think Brock Pierce is a welcome technical asset on the Bitcoin Foundation Board, and those who are going to resign because he is there should, well, just resign.  Preferably quietly, and with a minimum of self-righteous speech-making about whatever pedophile-uncloaking agenda they are currently flogging.

The major characteristic of all witch hunts is that the dissenters end up being accused of being witches themselves.  Perhaps this is why so few people have opined on this egregious and inappropriate public airing of gossip and speculation about Brock Pierce's private business and sexuality.

I'd just as soon never see another thread on this topic.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I've read mostly of those brock pierce accusations, heard him talk today on the investors panel in amsterdam and I can say: I am fine with him and his role in the Bitcoin community.

Personally, I couldn't give a rat's ass whether Pierce is a pedophile or not, as that isn't relevant to how he's going to run the Foundation. What, are there any children he'll start raping in the Foundation? I have the same sentiments as OP.

But at the same time, I wouldn't mind if he resigned from his postion, not because he's a pedo, but because the bitcoin foundation is not needed at all.

while i understand your position, boy thirsty perverts who hold young and impressionable males at gunpoint for sex is not okay - maybe it doesn't have much to do with his character in relation to being in the bitcoin foundation, but there's no place in society for those kinds of people.

he's also, btw, known for corruption and scamming venture capitalists.. and that is something i think is pertinent to his position.

It is neither....

1) Is the general public ready to accept the views quoted above?
Brock Pierce IS associated with the subject and so is Bitcoin with him in a prominent position.

2) If a child reaches puberty at 12 years old (for example), is sex with them a crime? (or should it be in your view)

yeah, that's another thing.. if you are known as a pedo, your public profile will not reflect well on you.. and in turn, it will make the foundation look bad. and if the foundation looks bad, so will bitcoin.

btw, "coincidentally" the age of consent in spain was only 13 years old - the lowest in all of europe. seems like this guy and his friends moved to spain in order to bang boys in the bunghole.. because the cap was "13 years old." that's pretty close reach towards pre-pubescent boys.

I see what's happening here! It's called attack and discredit the messenger via playing the he's-a-homophobe card. Okay, I'll play, since I hold the trump card.

Being 54-years-old, if I hated blacks, I would come right out and state that I hate niggers. If I hated Jews, I would come right out and state that all them son-of-a-bitches should have been killed by Hitler. If I hated gays, I sure the hell am man enough to come out say that I wish Hitler was around so that he could stick niggers up all their asses. Since I don't espouse, nor desire any of the aforementioned, none of such is true.

But, I do have a problem with of-age adult males sticking their dicks up anybody's ass or pussy, if such be the case, who's one second shy of being of legal age for sexual consent themselves, regardless of what's the proper term to use, as I'm sure you also have. If not, then state such.

BTW, I joke constantly about fucking goats, something I've never done, but have no qualms with anybody into animal husbandry. Perhaps, deep down, I believe them, too, should have Kosher vegetables stuck in their various orifices.

Now, whatever-your-real-name-is, you seem like an intelligent guy, and all, and would probably make a fine member of Brock Pierce's Reasonable Intelligent Sect, but the truth of the matter is that this Godfather-of-Bitcoin thingie runs much deeper than just the paedo- aspect I've espoused of late, namely the distribution of porn, probably most of the child kind, embedded in the brock chain, and the take-the-money-and-run attitude that's been running rampant via various cryptocurrency entities, including my 1,132 BTC I've yet to have returned to me from InstaWallet for over a year now due, in part, to the Paymium scheme also built upon a house of cards.

Case in point, expanding upon the latter... When a person comes onto the Bitcoin scene fairly recently, possibly eyeing another money grab, and starts an unregulated exchange in the US under the auspices of Team Brock Pierce, et al. having just built, then shut down a website after going through his $200K USD VC seed money while getting up to speed on how to figure out the theme of, and how to incorporate a widget into, the said now dead-parrot site, then I say Bitcoin has a problem, especially when the Godfather of Bitcoin is now a board member of TBF and oversees, to one degree or another, a myriad Bitcoin-based entities, either under one roof or, at least, just walking distance to one another via the Third Street Promenade, possessing the same tell-tale signs of incompetence. Not to mention how Team Brock Pierce has been trying to take control of Mt Coxs (apologies for my inner homophobia coming through) stealthy via the newly formed Sunlot since February, 2013, under the guise of looking out for his fellow bitcoiners that were its customers. Or, don't you see through that ruse as well, in spite of hundreds believing elsewise?

That said, every motherfuckin' poll on the internet (not just on this forum) clearly favors Brock Pierce being removed from the board of TBF, regardless if he's the straightest male on the planet, not having touched a single dick in his life, including his own, with same for asses, regardless of age of consent.

Take a close look at all of Brock Pierce's Bitcoin-based entities, and you'll clearly see, sans much effort, that in spite of VC funding, they're all built upon one another sans anything of substance, for the most part, with the exception of creative marketing buzz led my Michael Terpin's house of cards as well.

I'm sure you said, as well as I, when we were kids, "It's not who you know, but who you blow," not once having it cross our minds that we were offending a certain demographic whether one of such was in earshot or not. We've said such prior to knowing where and how our dicks would be used besides just pissing outta it, but probably during entering the masturbation stage we just somehow stumbled across, my foray being the XXX movie ads in the Chicago Suntimes five rows in a cornfield. What was yours? Sadly, others underage were introduced to sex, et al. via, "You trust me, don't you?"

But fuck all that since your hellbent on not seeing/reading anymore about Brock Pierce's inappropriate accusations. Let's now play the follow-the-money game.

Quote
Sunlot, which is backed by child-actor turned entrepreneur Brock Pierce and William Quigley, the managing director at California-based Clearstone Venture Partners, aims to resurrect Mt.Gox and, if successful, would immediately distribute its assets on a proportional basis to the 127,000 affected customers.

Big Ideas with Brock Pierce at Idealab

Take a look at the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RV2d6t5xVw (in case you missed the link above) and pay close attention as the camera pans the room during the Q & A session. See any familiar faces?

What I'm trying to relay is that all those entities that comprise of Sunlot are made up of the same individuals, having partnered-up/created various other entities prior to, and after they discovered Bitcoin staring in 2009, and not 2013. I guess I need to hunt down an easy-to-use Venn diagram program to further illustrate what I'm espousing so that those who still don't get it can at least visualize it, albeit to me it's clear as day, and should be to you since possessing some intelligence.

Apologies if this post looks like I'm sticking it you ass, so to speak, for unfortunately that was my intent. Although your post was a well-penned read, I duly hope I negated its claims.

Brock Pierce's public entrepreneurial record is fair game.  Innuendo about his sexuality based on decades-old guilt by association is not.  You seem to do a good job of hopping to the first topic when you get called out on the second.

Time to distance ourselves from the Bitcoin Foundation.
I don't think it really serves the average "bitcoiner" anyway, it seems more like an engine which works for the members own purposes and benefit. Just another economic entity hidden behind a veil of community.

Where's the multinational representation? If bitcoin is going to work, a bunch of rich white guys aren't going to do it on their own. We need strong relations with the rest of the world. It is after all a global currency...

Even though I stuck it up the OP's ass in my own special way, I have a helluva lot more respect for him them what I'm finding pertaining to Brock & Co., pushing any pædo- issues aside.

Please, Jehovah, don't let me find out later that he's Brock or one of the clowns I'm vetting, for at this speaking I don't believe he is, admiring him for helping out a many fellow bitcoiners on this forum with their technical concerns/issues.
