Yes, that would explain why someone would make 9 small bets and then suddenly a very large bet and win.

I have seen that happen a lot too.

I will still support you with my investments and other kinds of support.

You are in my opinion the #1 gambling site and you are very professional.

I am glad i have found you guys, I am sorry for your loss, but I'm sure you will make it back reasonably quickly.

I'm glad that this person was stupid enough to make it noticeable for you so quickly. Just think if they had not been so greedy and let in drag on over time very slowly or until the house roll was much larger. It could have been much much worse. I'm sorry for your loss here don't get me wrong.. I'm just trying to look at the positive things here.

even if they continued slowly, in a couple of days i would have noticed and found out what the problem was. I was already subconsciously aware of it.

I'm glad you were staying on top of things here. You're one of the originals, like myself and it's nice to see other members paying attention to these things besides the mods/owners.

Indeed, you guys/girls make our lives easier in many ways and motivate us to keep pushing forward to bring enjoyment to players and profitability to bankrollers.

So thank you for that.

Same here.. I thought, "there is no way someone won that much playing honest in just a few hours(based on history and max bet levels)" and unfortunately we were right.

I hope the site is back up soon  Roll Eyes

By the way, I just wanted to let you know it's not possible for me to log in from ipad because of I can not paste the signed message from 2FA in the box. When I try to click on the box the keyboard from my ipad will block the view of the box and I am unable to click it.

Okay,

we will not be re-launching the site for play today.  We want to test the new hashing further and implement other automatic protections against suspicious house losses and withdrawals before allowing play again.

I will process withdrawals now to whomever would like them however.  What I need is for you to PM me here on bitcointalk and provide the following info on your Satoshicarnival account:

account name
deposit address
ebtc address
a withdrawal address if different then your ebtc address
the amount you would like to withdraw

If you cannot provide all of this information, you will have to wait until we are back online tomorrow to initiative your withdrawal.

Thank you

do you mean right now?  you should not be able to login atm from anywhere.

you are describing an ipad issue in general however that will be relevant again when we are back online.

It has been a long day and I will only be up for another couple hours processing withdrawals if anyone would like one now.  Have had only one request so far.

Will return to processing them tomorrow morning or you can wait until we are back online as well.  We should be back up and running some time tomorrow.

Thanks.

Autobetting does not make you a scammer. (But it can help scammers hide behind you because they can hide their wins and suspicious bets in between a lot of fast bets).

But feel free to auto bet any time, the problem has been solved and we will still keep a look for any suspicious behavior, auto betting is not suspicious in any way.

You should be using sha512hmac() it's designed for seed-key combinations.
Thank you, Kuji Kiri.

Although using HMAC would not have prevented this specific issue from happening, Cristian and I are looking into other ways to strengthen our hashing algorithm. We will seriously consider implementing HMAC-based hashing.

Update 6/28/14

Changes you will notice at re-launch

  • New hashing algorithm - hmac sha512
  • 15% commissions
  • Current bankroller reimbursements as a result of these recent events will be increased by 10% so they receive 1.1x their incurred losses over time
  • IP logging
  • Admin manual suspension of individual accounts including betting as well as withdrawing
  • Roll back of bets to point previous the crisis including bankroller commissions

Changes still to come at some point after the re-launch

  • Auto kill-switches of betting and withdrawals at x% thresholds within y time intervals
  • Our regularly scheduled lag-related modifications and other features such as ease of visitor access, a visual faucet lottery system, new game etc

Why 15% commissions?

  • 3 partners working diligently to provide a secure and enjoyable experience with many features available and still to come
  • Many new games incoming, all of which will be 2.5% house edge
  • A lot of marketing planned to come
  • Expected house profit of ~.65% which will increase greatly when new games arrive at 2.5% house edge and a higher minimum bet then the current game

Why HMAC sha512?

We have changed to the new standard method of hashing, namely HMAC sha512, we are confident it is the proper encryption solution for our purposes.

We will be re-launching at some point today ET, perhaps even UTC, will keep you all up to date.

Thank you.

EDIT - We will also be implementing a 90%/10% cold/hot wallet split.  In our opinion, this is a better balance between security and instant withdrawals and our members should not notice much difference as a result of this augmented security measure.

Seem to be good updates in general, but i'm not too sure about the 2.5% house edge / 20% commission.

That is basically punishing future gamblers and investors for the loss in the past.

I know you want to make profit, but it's better to not overdo it, or you will not get many gamblers on these games.

I'd suggest 15% commission and 1.5~2% house edge on the other games, with maybe some exceptions for games that have a high amount of variance in order to reduce risk.

It's better to have profit build up over time by growing a large userbase that will come back regularly rather than trying to take a quick profit. With some patience this website could become bigger than JD ever was if you just keep focused.

Maybe you could also have a little higher commission for a while to cover the losses and extra advertising, but once the website gained in popularity and advertising is less critical you could award the long term investors with a slightly lower commission based on how long they have been investing.

The house edges planned were already at that value.  The future games are not dice games and are much different experiences.

The commissions will be more the made up for with the increased enjoyment, play and revenues to come.

We have no doubt bankrollers will experience significant returns in time, this will show itself to be true on its own.

Well, i hope so.

But it would be nice gesture to support the bankrollers (and maybe players as well) who show their support even after these events.

But it would be nice gesture to support the bankrollers (and maybe players as well) who show their support even after these events.

We are by re-launching with a much more secure and strengthened platform with many enjoyable and profitable experiences to come.

This event should only increase the confidence and optimism in our potential and offering.

Thank you and to others for your support.  We will continue to show a level of dedication and development to reward all players and bankrollers for joining us in this quest to be the #1 bitcoin gambling venue.

The increased commissions will also allow for more site magnets such as generous facet system, more marketing especially around new games, and other rewards.

Again, we believe bankrollers will experience returns they will be pleased with one year from now.
