So i was thinking of buying a small mining rig. About 500Mh/s maybe. Or something like that. But i want a new one. Like if anyone wanted to make a new one and ship it for a reward. I am actually in Greece but i could also take it from Germany too.

I want it for mining and using it for cracking passwords.

I am a noob with bitcoin actually so i am just seeing what the prices are right now. Dont know many things about cards etc...

~500 MH is just one good card. Why build an entire rig for that? Assuming you have adequate power supply, just plug a 5970 or something in your existing PC. Or if you insist on new, a 6970 or 7970. No need to pay anyone to do that and ship it.

I dont know what electricity prices are like in Greece, but if they are anything like most of Europe, you may want to look into FPGA mining instead. Have a look here:
http://www.butterflylabs.com/

They have yet to ship a board, but they are supposedly about to. Keep an eye on it.

Ok as i said i am quite noob but yes yesterday i was reading quite much and i noticed that with 1 card you can do that.

But wow, 600 dollars for 800+ Mh/s and only 80W? Isnt this too good to be true?

There are endless discussions about that, so I wont get in to it. If you feel uncomfortable, wait and see.

Don't risk your money on BFL until they actually ship working stuff. Rather buy a real product, like the FPGA board from ztex.de

http://www.ztex.de/usb-fpga-1/usb-fpga-1.15x.e.html

215 MHz for about 12 Watts per module (take 2) + a host computer (can be a 10 watt Alix board) and you are set, low power consumption. Should cost you about EUR 700 for 430 MHz @ 35 Watts.

Unless you have free power, in that case get a few 5970 cards

I can build you a new machine at a moderate price shipped.
I have to say though;
Quote
I want it for mining and using it for cracking passwords.
It sounds to me as if you have never done either one, and this is a rather low end machine for both. Don't get yourself in trouble doing the latter

likuidxd hi, I would like to start mining later this year, maybe in April or May all being well & would be interested in a new built machine at a moderate price shipped with some tech support to get it connected up & running, I'm in Spain & have a lot of experience in the best ways to ship to here from most countries in the world - where would you ship from - (East coast USA?) Also would you advise waiting for any particular future developments that may be coming out later this year? I'd be most interested to hear your recommendations & approx quotes plus any advise you may have, posting publicly in case anyone else has any suggestions, many thanks  Smiley
