This phrase has become infuriatingly more common recently:

Quote
Posted From bitcointalk.org Android App

A post is a post and it need not contain the method with which it was posted. Imagine the chaos if all posts said "Posted From bitcointalk.org on Mozilla Firefox" or something similar! I suggest the forum add that phrase to the censorship list (which IIRC is already being used for links to Silk Road) and replace it with a null string.

Yeah, that's not allowed. Any signature must be in the signature area. (Except that a traditional valediction or just your name is allowed, though this is discouraged.)

I removed the existing ones. Anyone who continues posting them will be banned.

If it's like other apps I've used to post on forums then it's part of the app, like a signature in an email sent from the phone. Maybe contact the creator and let him know?

The people who use it should be the ones contacting him.

And yes that is annoying, just another form of advertising.

I've never seen that happen before. I know it's probably there by default, but wont you be able to turn it off in the settings or is it locked in?

There is a BitcoinTalk app? I agree it should be removed, I never like it on any other forum I go on.

EDIT: Found the app, there is a way to disable it from the settings. Preferences -> Thread Options -> Uncheck 'Advertise Application'

What about people who post from bitcointa.lk? I've been able to note extremely small "Posted through bitcointa.lk" notes or something like that which are not even visible in the screen unless you select them.

The signature campaign posters adding useless redundant fluff to their posts to reach their minimum word count are lowering my IQ.

Yeah IIRC the font color is the same as the background color so you cannot see them unless you select them. He's doing it to leech pagerank-juice.

Who really cares. Why waste everyones time on such a small matter.  The app works great, who cares if they advertise a little.

I think we need to worry about bigger fish like all the scammers/thieves and not the little crap like text advertising.  I can see a big flash advertisement being annoying, but a simple text string is no big deal.

AFAIK, admins and mods work to stop spamming but not scamming, and they won't remove scamming threads or ban scammers.
Also, It is your job to avoid scams and protect your own bitcoin.

Signatures that are not in the signature line are banned. Otherwise there would be little point in signature size limitations. This allows people to turn off signatures if they wish. A forum is a place for discussion, and extra stuff is a distraction from that.

Signatures that are not in the signature line are banned.

I understand they are discouraged but not banned. Do you have a reference for that?

This post from theymos clarifies that only valedictions or names are discouraged. All other signatures are banned:

The people trying to use the forum outside of the app care, because it's annoying, and it would clutter up the forum with meaningless advertisement. People can turn off signatures if they don't like them, but there's no escaping advertisements in the posts themselves.

Also, please don't necro threads unless you have a good reason; the last post here in the original discussion was 4 months ago. I haven't seen anything about this on the forum for a while, so I don't think it's much of an issue anymore; the moderators said it was banned, and they've kept it pretty clean since.

I still see those posts from time to time. Recent examples are this, this and this.

Should I report those posts in the future and put the link to this thread in the comment section?

Yes, that would be a good idea. Adding a short note about the report reason in addition to the link would probably help as well.
