You can point to the wave, describe how many tons of water is in it and the speed with which it is approaching... But you can't do more than that.

They'll figure it out eventually, though it may be when the water is crashing down around them.

I think bitcoin is too new and a lot to take in at first. It really needs some thinking about to truly understand it and most seem to not want to bother getting their head around it.

I think the issue with "no one cares" was pointed
out in the coinbase article with the adoption chasm.

Like I said, I think the way forward is merchants
need to start giving 1% discounts in you pay
in BTC.

I think I was exaggerating in my "hurt ego" like most women like to do.    I really don't care all that much.  I am just pretty much annoyed!  It seems crazy to me that people do not stop to consider Bitcoin at all.

The adoption chasm makes sense to me.  I think we are on the brink of it right now.  Once we pass through things should get really interesting!

Reminds me about Linux community. Just go and read Slashdot, it has been going 15 years or something, and when finally Linux went mainstream, it wasn't like we nerds thought it would. Still no Linux on desktop, let's see how bitcoin evolves.

I think any kind of incentive to get people to look into or start using Bitcoin is great.  I am not sure if 1% is enough to peak interest though.  People have become increasingly distrustful of discount tactics over the years.  I think the greatest utility of Bitcoin will be the ease of transfer coupled with the security and greater anonymity built in plus the speed of transfer.  And right now the real benefit to most is the investment potential.  I will unashamedly admit that is my biggest priority in wanting Bitcoin at present.  But I do see the usefulness, regardless of the current price or potential price whatever it reaches, in the long run.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.  People really don't like change so anything new does not seem important to them.  But I often feel like I telling so many people around me about Bitcoin and how they really should buy just a little or at least read about it and look into and and almost everyone ignores me.

Here is one example: Just this week I posted a comment on this article about the growing perils of a cashless society and my comment about how Bitcoin could solve some of these problems is now the "worst" comment with no thumbs up and all thumbs down!  Really!?  I don't know why that bothers me so much.  Sigh.  Oh well.  I guess I have to be thankful that I will be "up the hill" when the tsunami does hit.

You seem to be forgetting that:
bot increased price -> increase in price caused huge media coverage & hype -> which increased number of users, apps and usage -> a new and higher "natural" price is established because of new users. You can't just say it should go back to before the bot started.
