Which is the better investment?

Both are CryptoNote. But does Monero provide the anonymity Bytecoin offers? Or is it the same?

Monero is a CryptoNote coin built from the Bytecoin source (see github) and so offers an identical feature set. Thus far the developers have in fact fixed several errors in the Bytecoin coin, notably the apparently crippled mining code. Monero's net hash is approximately 14 times that of Bytecoin's and so is likely the more popular of the two. Monero's development team is also much more active in terms of popularizing CryptoNote, e.g. today's successful implementation of stratum pool mining.

My primary concern with Bytecoin is that it is subject to the same economic problems that are currently destroying Ripple: when you have the vast majority of the wealth held by a small number of holders the economy becomes unstable. If even one large holder decides to liquidate their holdings, they flood the market and destroy the value of the entire currency. Monero's clean start and extreme liquidity (its daily exchange volume approaches 10% of the coin supply) mean that it is more likely to be well-distributed and hence immune from this issue.

Introduction of Monero Classic (XMC)

After Monero hard forked on April 6th, there are XMR (the new Monero chain) and XMC (original chain).

Monero Classic team chose to maintain the original chain and did not follow the upgrade initiated by Monero team. We believe the emergence of specialized mining machines for a cryptocurrency is a normal market economy phenomenon and it could greatly improve network security. With specialized mining machines , the events like “Monero was attacked by more than 500,000 botnets” could be avoided. On the opposite, Monero developers' constant change of algorithm creates more centralization.

Supporters of XMC:
Community: AMT community, LoMoStar community
Mining pool: Antpool, Poolin, Frogpool, 91pool, F2POOL
Exchange: CoinEx, Xstar, gate.io
Wallet: LoMoStar

FAQs of Monero Classic (XMC):

1. Is MoneroClassic (XMC) a hard fork from Monero?
No. Monero hard forked from itself when updating from v.0.11.1.0 to version v.0.12.0.0. We are working with Monero Network version v.0.11.1.0.

2. Why are you against the hard fork?
We believe the emergence of specialized mining machines for a cryptocurrency is a normal market economy phenomenon and it could greatly improve network security. With specialized mining machines , the events like “Monero was attacked by more than 500,000 botnets” could be avoided.

3. Is MoneroClassic (XMC) pre-mined?
No.

4. Is this an ICO?
No.

5. How do I get MoneroClassic (XMC)?
If you have Monero in exchanges (CoinEx, Xstar, gate.io) before the hard fork, you should already have the equivalent amount of XMC in wallet.
If you have Monero in your local wallet before the hard fork, you can download our XMC wallet to get equivalent amount of XMC.

6. Do you have replay protection?
No. It is the responsibility of cryptocurrency that is hard forking to implement replay protection. Monero team has not announced plan to prevent replay attacks on the new fork chain, so boths chains (XMC and XMR) are at risk of replay attacks. To avoid replay attacks, users should create new XMC and XMR wallets, then transfer balance to them.

7.When and where can we trade XMC?
Supported exchanges: CoinEx, Xstar, gate.io.
CoinEx: https://www.coinex.com/trading?currency=bch&dest=xmc&tab=limit
Gate.io: https://gateio.io/trade/XMC_BTC
Xstar: (trade will be open soon).

8.Is the wallet available?
The wallet will be available on LoMoStar.
The download address of local wallet is about to be released.
(Please stay tuned for our announcement and website)
