Interesting Cryptsy has live trading back for IOC, think it resumed early this morning...

https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/272

That's not I0coin, it's I/O coin.

Embarrassed your absolutely right m00x!, had to learn about this new I/O coin, sorry to those that followed my previous post, and were misled.  I almost bought some thinking it was I<zero>Coin.  That is too dam close in spelling, see now its a completely different coin.  To make matters worse, it appears to me they are both trading @ near the same price, if you compare the Vircurex price here:
https://vircurex.com/welcome/index?alt=btc&base=i0c&locale=en

I think people are confusing the two coins and that's why they are trading at the same price.  Not good.

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

Yeah, we're getting more trading volume on vircurex.   That's a good thing actually.  Maybe we'll get more users for our coin.

HIDDEN PREMINE!?

No premine.  That's what the zero in I "zero" coin means.  What makes you think there was a premine?

I0coin broke the 30 Peta Hash / sec mark for the first time today.  For many months I0coin has been about 10% the hash rate of Bitcoin.  Today it has moved up to 26%, a significant increase.  The big five continue to move away from the crowd, dominating hash rate.

                      Net. GH/sec
Bitcoin            117,355,588
Namecoin          91,015,850
Devcoin            60,717,694
Ixcoin              60,497,584
I0coin              30,954,343

Don't get I0coin mixed up with I/O coin.  They are different block chains and not interchangeable.

Only two, CoiLedCoin and GeistGeld, remain "under the radar", nice low difficulty thus still easy to mine, and of course at any moment they could get picked up by one or more large merged mining pools so how long they will stay nice and esy to mine is unknown. Even when they do get picked up by pols though they might still remain somewhat low profile like GRouPcoin currently is, until they get listed on some well known exchange.

Just a question about mining CoiLedCoin and GeistGold. Are they minable, in the practical sense, with a run-of-the-mill rig (with no GPU to speak of) and a more-or-less cheap SHA-256 ASIC like the ones being sold on eBay right now?

If so, which mining program would one use so as to plug-and-play with the ASIC? One that works well when running on Windoze 7 64-bit?

Thanks.

I "zero" coin.  Zero premine.  Zero inflation by 2018.  Zero gimmicks.  I0coin doesn't play games with your money.

I0coin is almost an exact clone of Bitcoin with just a few changes.  The primary difference is a much faster block time, 1.5 minutes, compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  Thus, I0coin will reach its 21 million maximum coin total much faster.  I0coin will generate 99% of its coins by March 2015, compared to 2032 for Bitcoin.

I0coin doesn't use risky gimmicks or add useless features which only make it harder to maintain a reliable network.   The goal of the I0coin development team is to stay up to date with Bitcoin releases to ensure I0coin is a very stable, low risk digital currency.  I0coin changes benefit from being tested and proven on Bitcoin first.

I0coin is merge mined with Bitcoin to produce a massive network hash rate and an energy efficient mining environment.  Very little extra energy is required to generate I0coins and secure its block chain.  I0coin's huge hash rate means it is the most secure crypto-currency with a block time under 10 minutes.  Its network hash rate ranks consistently in the top 1% compared to ALL other crypto-currencies.  Besides being very secure, I0coin has a very low rate of inflation because it's mostly mined already.  This guarantees the price will not be devalued due to new coins being circulated, as is the case with many other crypto-currencies.  In fact, many of the most popular cryptos don't even have a maximum coin cap.  They will be produced forever, and their price will suffer just like fiat currencies have for decades.

I0coin makes an excellent choice when the high security of Bitcoin is desired, but faster block times are needed.  It's perfect for vendors because transactions are confirmed fast.  It also enables I0coin to have higher transaction throughput.  Bitcoin devs have been expressing concern over their transaction volume hitting a ceiling soon.  I0coin has a much higher ceiling because it processes its transactions every 1.5 minutes vice 10 minutes.

Fast block times make for a great platform for financial extensions like Colored Coins, Counterparty, and Mastercoin.  I0coin's lower price means it can support smart contracts and smart assets for a much lower cost than Bitcoin.

Not really that new.  I0coin celebrates its 3rd birthday this month.  It's one of the oldest coins out there.

We lost our block explorer a week ago when altexplorer dropped support for about 30-40 coins.  We now have a new block explorer thanks to cryptoID.

A lot of those clone coins with no support are starting to drop off the radar.  No trading or updates.  I0coin's trading is lite, but it's almost 3 years old and still supported.  We're well past the initial publicity period during launch.  Most coins die soon after that, so we're doing ok all things considered.  We need to start pushing for more users.  Any I0coin supports need to get out there and ask vendors and service sites to add I0coin.

I noticed that in the description i0coin said that it's one of the best coin for smart contracts and trading. Are they're any implementations of that functionality floating around?

Happy Birthday to I0coin

I0coin is three years old today, August 15th, 2014.   Many accomplishments have occurred in just the last year.  (Refer to the first post of this thread for url's of the following sites.)

1.  New website
2.  New forum
3.  New wiki
4.  Four client updates
5.  Additional exchanges
6.  Increased network hash rate, now at over 25% of Bitcoin's hash rate.

There is more to come in year four!!!

Looking forward to it.  Btw, i0coin hash rate is at 40 Peta h/sec.  Still climbing.

I0coin has reached a new high hash rate.  Over 50 Peta Hash / sec, and sitting at about 22% of Bitcoin's hash rate.  Not too shabby.
