Aw man. Have you tried contacting him again?
Also, In the future you should use an escrow.

This is another red flag. Dude has no trust ratings at all and likely purchased the account, if he's using this as a reason to trust him.

We should strip him of his "hero" status and change it to "zero"

If people use it purely for trust maybe the name hero should be changed.

Yes, the title is very misleading.  How can a con artist be a hero?

The biggest con-artist in Bitcoin are hero members (and usually also VIP members) at bitcointalk.

Hero member used to mean having a certain number of posts. Now it means having an x number of posts spread out over y number of weeks. That's it. Forums titles are misleading across the board in forums if you don't know about this though.

This needs to be change.  It should be voted on.  A hero is someone who is honest and willing to help other members and should be voted on.

More people will be victims.   You can not wear police uniforms if you are not a police.

The thing is, the account was likely bought unfortunately... I can't stand when I see accounts like that.
Contributing to the community and organically building trust is the only way to go.

Of course he can get it, but he most likely won't release it. There's also not much we'd be able to do with the IP...

I don't think so. If he gets a proper subpoena maybe.

@OP: Hero Member status is not an indication of trustworthiness, it's simply a reflection of how long has been around for and how active within that time period. While in general older users are more trustworthy, old accounts have been used in the past for long con scams. Try to find people with positive trust and preferably use escrow with everyone.

The best you can do is get someone on DefaultTrust to flag the account until this investigation has been resolved. If Antares doesn't respond then the feedback will be left rendering the account useless and helping to ensure no one else gets scammed.

Theymos generally doesn't give away IPs and even then IPs won't help you much if you've lost $500USD. The IP could be coming from a dynamic IP address so you probably wouldn't be able to track them down without a subpoena to the ISP. Even then the scammer may reside outside your country and mounting a small claims case might take a while. I'd advise you accept what happened and learn from it - you may get your coins back but don't get your hopes up.

I sent antares 1 btc but he never send me any money.

First of all, it sucks to be scammed.
Second, you should read here and make a proper, easier to read report: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.0
Third, Use escrow. It's been said over and over again to protect yourself and I can't figure out why people refuse to heed this advice.
Fourth, Status doesn't mean trustworthy.

When the subject of buying BTC with Paypal comes up, I often remember this:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
