Simple question: Which miner to use for 7970?

At the moment I use cgminer with my 6970s.

I am looking into making a new rig with four of these; can anyone give some hashrates using the newest DiabloMiner? Please post clock rates, voltages too if you changed them!

CGMiner is not better for 7xxx series. I test both Diablo and CGMiner on 7970 and 7950 and Diablo always faster.

Current cgminer includes the diablo kernel so it should be identical.

Oops ! I not know this. Last version of CGMiner I check is several weeks old. Thank you !

edit: i download 2.3.1-2 and use -k diakgcn and still get better performance with Diablominer. Not sure why cgminer run slower for me. cgminer give me 40-50mhash less than Diablo on 7xxx series using 12.2pre

With -k diakgcn it's important to use -v 2 as performance for -v 1 is not good, but diablo seems faster currently ... but just try it again Smiley.

cgminer + diablo kernel + v1 w256 = same performance as using diablominer (for me)

12.2pre + bundled sdk + win7 32-bit

core 1125 mhz -> 662 mh/s

I try with -v 2 with diakgcn and maybe 5mhash faster. I not understand why so slow for me. I continue to use diablominer for now and keep look on cgminer project. Like how multi GPU support in cgminer

edit: I try -k diakgcn and -k diablo and performance near 5mhash difference. I think I maybe download Polish version of cgminer. I try English version and see if faster.

After testing both I still find diablo to be faster in all situations/configurations, not exactly sure why considering this^ but diablo is ahead for me.

Did you try -k diakgcn -v 2 -w 256 ?

use
https://github.com/Diapolo/cgminer/blob/f9114da26b95e8f8cf73fd7ca014d7af8f1689a7/diakgcn120223.cl

I got it from Diapolo.  The above version of  diakgcn kernel will be released in the next cgminer version.

It works well for me.  pushing 680s with 1170/685 on Win7.

I made a small change, which should be a little bit faster ... if you want to try it out take this file:
https://github.com/Diapolo/cgminer/blob/master/diakgcn120223.cl

Wow I didn't know I made a Polish version of cgminer... oh yeah I didn't so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
